The only rain last year came just as I pitched my air tent … fantastic invention. Or was there a dust keeping down light shower overnight ?

It rained quite hard for a period when I was on my first Oxfam shift on Weds morning also early one evening there was a longer period of heavy rain - I was in Shangri-la at the time at the stage with the Underground carriages and an Argentinian sailor band was playing - I think it was Tues but could have been Weds.

Has anyone tried one of these Decathlon air beds, any good?

Not that exact one, but have had a Decathlon one before which was very comfy and robust.  Way better than lilos/foam mats.  Only upgraded when Mrs 4AM started attending in 2019 so we got a double Berghaus mattress, which is pricey and bulky, but as comfortable as an actual bed.

Yeah it rained twice on the Weds last year - pissed down when we had just finished setting up camp (so had a nap) and a shower later on.

More than double the price of a non-pop up version. Is tent pitching really that hard for people to warrant the extra cost? I have the non pop-up 3 man and it's a piece of piss to pitch.

I think you underestimate how much the feeling of smugness is worth, when you arrive at a festival while it's raining and can be pitched and in the dry within seconds while others are dicking around for 10 minutes. Especially the ones who have tents that pitch inner-first.

Incident raises a very good point... It genuinely is shelter within 5 seconds... It's not an exaggeration, when you know how to use the system, it literally takes seconds. (I also paid £129 for mine on sale 😉 Does anybody ever pay full price for tents? That being said, it would have been worth the full price, since it's had 10+ outings already... £200+ for a tent isn't a lot when you look after them well.)

But that isn't the only reason I rate the tent so highly. The fresh and black feature of the tent just seems to work better with this design, compared to the air and pole versions.

I love camping, and I'm not averse to pitching a tent, no... But there is a tent for every situation IMO. When I'm wild camping, on the top of High Willhays, then I'll take my ultralight Helium F10. Takes 10 minutes to pitch, but is lightweight and packs smaller than a 2 litre coke bottle... Couple of days wild camping in the Peak district, with an easier hike and I'll take the slightly bigger OEX Rakoon. Family camping with the dogs on a site, I'll take the big 8 man tent, with separate living areas... Takes 30 minutes plus to pitch, is super heavy, but is a great space for the whole family to spend a few days in, regardless of the weather. And festivals, well I want something that is a simple shelter which is super quick to pitch and strike. But, importantly, I want something that allows my sleep off a hangover in the morning... Hence this tent is perfect for the job.

You asked... 😉🙈🤣

Edited to add some photos of those tents in action... Never one to pass up an opportunity 🙈🤣

Now please don't ever question my willingness or ability to pitch a tent again!!! 🤣😂🤣😂
