Wellies/Walking boots - walking boots and Gaiters

I'm a reasonably seasoned Glastonbury goer this year being my 14th in a row and 17th in total. I had 3 really wet ones where wellies were a necessity (waders would have been a better option in 2007) Every year I bring wellies and take them home without putting them on. I am predicting a wettish one this year and am considering my trusty walking boots paired with gaiters. Any thoughts or recommendations on the gaiter front? of just the £14 option from go outdoors?  many thanks

wellies are great cos you don't need to worry about where you're walking your feet are going to stay dry, they can be tough on the soles of your feet cos wellies aren't built for foot comfort, so a decent pair of insoles are needed if you'll be doing lots of walking, 

 

i can't get on with the cheap gel insoles and wanting comfortable feet, i've been able to spend out on some very expensive ones that give fantastic insole support, fifty quid sounds a lot comfortable feet are worth it - they're only £30 right  now.

Never ended up using them at Glastonbury but have used them elsewhere and they're fab.

I haven't had chance to use my Decathlon gaiters since I bought them for 2022. Perhaps I should give them a test run before the spring rain (hopefully) stops.

 

I'd take both if rain is predicted though. Walking boots and gaitors for when it's somewhat wet, switch to wellies for when the mud pools come later in the weekend.

I favour muck boots as I find they are much comfier than wellies and are more breathable

Are muck boots waterproof where the neoprene line is? If they are, I might replace my wellies with some...

I've got ones from the Muck Boot Company and they are 100% waterproof including the neoprene bit.  Not sure about other makes.

They are quite pricey but I use mine loads when walking the dog so see them as a good investment (especially considering how crap the weather has been)

Boots and shorts no gaiters needed, worked for me every time including 2007
