Rock Werchter 2025

The fact that QOTSA have never headlined RW while someone like Sam Fender is given the spot, is beyond me. They were THE highlight of 2023 for me (and for most people I think).

Unfortunately, they still owe one to Pukkelpop so I don't see them coming to Werchter.

Have QOTSA ever been the main headliner at one of the major festivals? Maybe more niche ones like Download.

But the likes of werchter, roskilde, glastonbury etc.

Quick camping question. If I'm going on my own, and bringing my own tent from the UK, is the recommended option to go for a two-person Hive My Space?

That should get me a reserved spot to pitch my tent and avoid the general chaos of trying to find a space in The Hive (where it's seemingly opened up section by section)? Or are the concerns with The Hive more overblown and less of an issue if you're going on you're own - i.e. without needing a big space for a large group to be together?). Any experiences from previous years would be appreciated to help decide between options.

If some other friends decide to join at a later date and I go for The Hive My Space is there anyway to let the organisers know and try and get pitches that are closer together?

Thanks for any advice!

P.S. if I do end up making the journey alone, and anyone from here fancies a festival pint or can of Jupiler together, let me know!

True that and I find it really strange especially with the lack of available headliners the last couple of years. Maybe it's a coincidence and they were simply not available when they could've headlined...

I think they've just been a bit unlucky with the competition. For example having the likes Arctic Monkeys and Gorillaz above them at werchter.

With headliners lacking now, who wants to see Pearl Jam or Metallica for the 100th time.

I wouldn't bet against QOTSA headlining Werchter next year. Especially with there commitments for the 2024 cancellations.

Maybe I'm not the majority but I'd be extremely happy to see Pearl Jam for the 100th and I'd take them every year on repeat over Sam Fender or Maneskin 😂 (for bands that I love I have no issue seeing them over and over).

But I do get your point and I agree. QOTSA could potentially headline any festival next year. Probably RW will not be one of them (I see them more at PKP - unless something changes due to poor ticket sales and they do both) but I really really hope I'm wrong!

No, but neither has Fender (bar the UK).

But of course, it all depends on that new album, and if it becomes (has) a big hit.

Bit different, QOTSA have been on the festival scene for over 20 years. QOTSA will headline niche festivals, or smaller festivals.

It's perhaps more of a case off how festival lineups have fallen. Rather than about QOTSA or Fender.

I like both, like both live. Would I buy a day festival ticket for either, no.

Saw QOTSA with Grohl drumming. 🤩

I think with the festival getting who they have to headline, Fender especially was definitely not a planned sub originally as numbers he sells there are very basic and I believe Ken has almost hinted at that. Even given the other trio they have no other festival does, having to go for a weaker Saturday night headliner still could have avoided Fender there but it is what it is.

Even as Fender as a 'weak headliner' its a very very strong quartet. And though QOTSA have certain appeal, I dont think they have mass appeal to headline a Werchter.

I'd also love them to headline Werchter. The 23 set before Arctics was something else, as was the arena tour last November.

I can't comment on Queens too much, I only like 3 songs

Hive was a scrum when trying to get a spot on the Weds at 4 in the afternoon in 2022. We could have moved later the day after and had more room. As you say big groups trying to get together. You can end up in the middle of a sea of identical popup tents. Or on the edge with everyone tripping over your tent at all hours trying to get to their tent in the middle of a sea off identical tents! Yes, it is cheaper but we thought myspace was worth the extra.

Myspace (based on 2024)- You'd probably need to either a) turn up together if you're buying separate 8m² Myspace spots - they'll still stick you together but unlikely to let you 'hold' one, or b) get a Myspace 16m² and you can turn up separately as long as you have something to put down in the other space to reserve. They allocate on arrival - filling as they go - so if your ticket says 16m² they'll guide you to somewhere where you can have your two spaces next to each other (it's literally two 8m² pitches). Check the size of your tents as 16m² isn't actually as big as it sounds on paper. A benefit of the Myspace is you're all lined up nicely and you should have easy access to your tent without having to climb past others. You also get showers included in the price with less waiting time which is an absolute godsend and can go some way to paying for the difference in price when it can cost 1.5 in Hive Regular. From our experience it's also quite a bit quieter if you appreciate some sleep before 4am - but I guess it's luck of the draw who your neighbours are (for context we are in our 40's - like a drink but also like some sleep 🙂)

Any chance of more bands getting announced before Christmas ?

Just to add to what @ParanoidTourist said….  The past 2 years the announcements have been

2023 - Wednesday 25th Jan (30 acts)

2024 - Wednesday 17th Jan (20 acts).

So, 15th or 22nd January would be the most logical guesses for next year.

Thanks for this reply, it was really helpful. Checked the size of my tent and went for one of the 8m² MySpace spots - I think the idea of having a space reserved takes away some of the stress and things being a bit quieter is probably better for my first time and if I do go on my own.

Really looking forward to the announcements in the New Year and finally making my first trip over for this festival!

We ended up getting the 10 person pitch for 5 of us so far.  Even randomly get a picnic bench.  If you see people having Jaeger for breakfast on the picnic bench that’ll be us
