Good for them, but probably time to look for other alternatives soon. How is this sad news? It's only encouraging that this choice is paying off, no? I would even agree if this was a small name, but Rodrigo is huge (2 times Sportpaleis). If they can only sell out because of older names, then they would have a problem for the future.... It's these newer headliners (and festival goers) that give them the opportunity to go on for another 50 years. Might be sad news for some people that go there but for the actual business they’ll be over the moon. Same with BST this year, has struggled to sell in prev years yet this year with Olivia, Sabrina, Noah it’s flown out. Can certainly see what’s popular these days The sad news part was personal, as the festival then probably will continue to go in another direction that I want. I wrote that it was good for them didn't I? I totally understand that they will do whatever they can to maximize profit, so if it pays off for RW they will continue to do it. Would be interesting to get intel on what they make in on-site revenue, say on the Thursday & Friday compared to Sunday though..

Can't keep booking bands from the 90s/00s, all because the punters like to get drunk. I see your point though. I took my daughter to see Mitski at All Points East last summer, no wait for the bars all day.

You'll be fine - quite a few did that this year and popped a 2x2 gazebo in there - although if there's strong winds forecast they ask you to take the coverings off them. Nikky
Looking at her schedule (in Europe whole July) can't believe Patti Smith is not booked 😟 not only for this but any festival.

matrainertje
Slightly off-topic but Werchter Boutique (Imagine Dragons, Jorja Smith et all) also is almost 'sold out'.
majmun
Did an artist ever play both RW and WB the same year? I would have love to see Jorja at RW

It's good for business naturally and Thursday is the strongest day act wise obviously so far but for Friday not to be equalling sales the name of Rock Werchter will eventually be just in name and not in band. Are we expecting another announcement this side of Christmas? A friend has asked me about it so it's worth knowing as with someone vs solo would make a difference. As soon as it was announced people on FestiLeaks said they were all ruled out.
sisco
And Sunday tickets are now sold out
Ferda
Well, I guess this confirms the trend discussed here and in other threads - the lineups/experience focused narrowly a certain demographics do better than a general, more diverse lineup. Hardly a surprise but I am wondering what does that mean for Werchter going forward. Thursday and Sunday feel like 2 completely different things tbh, more like 2 Boutique day than 1 event. Given the growing share of daily tickets as mentioned last year, I just wonder if we will see more diverse but rather monotone days (e.g. Fred Again day / Metallica day)? Fri/Sat feels like a standard Werchter lineup to me but they're not sold out yet and I dare to say it's not due to headliners as GD is arguably as strong as LP/OR. I am curious who will be added to Thu/Sun now. Anyway, tickets bought, Werchter and Rock for People for me next year 🙂
