I get the two album argument, don't think they'd really care though, considering her popularity. But barely one hit must be a troll, considering she has three number one singles almost everywhere and about 8 songs with more than a billion streams.

I'd argue she'd need a co-head though to please older audiences and cause she is not at the same level as Dua Lipa.

Not a troll, just some long term memory. Several #1 hits over a short period of time is quite common in the digital era.

My point is not to minimize her success (honestly did not know she had anything big other than drivers license), I would almost argue it's the less relevant factor. Show me the last #1 Muse had anywhere and I'm still shaking from their set last year. Yeah, pop stars shine hard (and most of them fade quickly). But my point is that popular as she may be on Tik Tok, Spotify, radio, whatever, she is relatively inexperienced. She's in the midst of her first massive tour. I saw her last glasto set. She cute. But you expect a headliner to deliever a radically good show, and being popular for 2 years is usually no sufficient evidence for that in my opinion.

BTW I also thought that Dua was an extremely weak choice 🙂

They had Måneskin as a headliner. Nothing more needs to be said about the direction they are taking...

I went to her arena shows, she’s 100% got the star quality to do it.

Hence why she’s now ready for the Glastonbury headline spot and whatever else comes.

You’re right, my opinion, plus the biggest festival in the world.  Dunno who to listen too ❤️

She to make it quite clear, of Dua Lipa could headline Werchter then so can Olivia. Olivia has more number 1 albums in more countries and would outsell her too. Make no mistake that Olivia will go on to sell stadiums but she's only 21 still, Dua Lipa is 29.

I get your points, but Muse also co-headlined/were second billed at Werchter 5 years after their first album, having released three albums at the time. If she releases music next year, it's gonna be 4 years since her debut, so more or less the same.

It's always kind of a bet to give big slots to newer artists, if they will prove their status with time, but at the same time it's important to freshen things up. I've been a huuge Muse fan, but now they tend to bore me or at least don't excite me as much when I see them on the line up.

It's true that she might be a bit unexperiecend (also compared to Muse in 2004) and a sub-billing would be more fitting in that regard, but she's too popular and probably expensive for that, hence why I would give her an experienced co-head. Also her show looks pretty good to me and the thing that makes her a fit for Werchter in my opinion is that she's more rock-oriented than lots of other younger acts and she's having a full band on stage, which could make her convince the older audience and would fit quite organically before or after a set of someone like Jack White or Blink-182.

Tend to agree with most of what you said, and truly appreciate your nice attitude 🙂

I will just note that back in 04 Muse were wrapping their third massive tour, and they had a previous set in RW several years before. To me it feels less out of the blue - but, well, that was 2 decades ago.

Thanks, same goes for me:)

It's totaly true, that Muse were more experienced and had lower slots at the festival before so people were more familiar with their shows.

One (obvious) thing I just noticed is, that lots of artists that got to fame more recently or especially during Covid got a few years of live experience stolen, f.e. Rodrigo couldn't tour her album in 2021. Combined with the growing possibility of immediate fame through social media in a short period of time, it makes sense that there are some acts now, that are objectively huge and are big ticket sellers, especially to younger people, but at the same time quite unexperienced and unfamiliar to the average festival audience. The time where they would accept lower slots is already shorter per se and if it would have been during Covid, it just didn't happen.

I do tend to agree from watching some of her videos there are more experienced people out there when it comes to a big festival scene but she no doubt sells tickets.

When discussing names and setting bands/artists up against each other, there is one thing many seem to forget, and that is that there is an expectation to have a certain diversity when it comes to sex. As there tend to be fewer large female artists/bands compared to male ones, those representing the female share tend to be somewhat "smaller" than their male counterparts. Therefore there is no doubt, that like Dua Lipa, also Olivia and Billie can headline. Doesn't mean one need to agree, but it will still be the case.

Oh I fully agree Olivia can headline without a doubt but I don't think she'd the most convincing performer and sound live from some clips I've seen.

what does thaht mean?

we are close to an annoucement?

Last year the wishlist was closed on October 11th and the first announcement was on November 8th, so it doesn't necessarily means we are close to an announcement.

Either or doesn’t matter too much I suppose.

Although over on Festileaks they still don’t think theyll play, although they dismiss pretty much everyone 😂.  Nobody is playing

I find festileaks to be more focused on RAR. To be honest its not the most outlandish thing to feel a band playing Athens on the Sunday won't be around in Belgium that whole weekend. It's certainly been a while since they have played. I almost want them to play and grab a few bands for that day that Download might for a Green Day to take me away from Download. I'm not really bothered to go to two events that both are at and Werchter would book the better festival that's almost certain.

It’s more the combination of things include always sharing a headliner with Southside/Hurricane.  Just adds up they’ll be there
