Glamping

Recommended Posts

Due to an unplanned change of circumstances I will not be in the campervan this year. Not sure my old bones can cope with general camping, so does anybody have any experience of the glamping options? Is it worth it? Are the facilities better than general? Are you still expected to sh*t in a wheelie bin? etc. Thanks.

I was in one of the Rockdom 4-6 man tents in Tangerine fields last year. We went for a pre pitched option as we were travelling from Ireland and wanted to travel light. We found it great. Arrived late on the Thursday so no fluting around with queues, the lads there were dead on, had us at our tent in seconds. Place was really quiet over the weekend, nice café sort of spot, showers great, loos alas same as everywhere else. 100 quid each for the weekend seemed like excellent value. We did bring our own sleeping bags and mats mind. Few minutes walk to all the fun. I'd defo do it again.

I am happy to get dirty any day of the week, but I have ONLY ever glamped at EOTR.

Have done Tangerine Fields most of the time and last year did Vintents for the first time.  This year we are doing Green Yurts for the first time.  Overall I'd say I preferred Tangerine Fields to Vintents.
The only issue I've had is that there are a lot of those little spiders in the tents.  I suspect they live in the grass, and dont have anything to do with the glamping itself , but if anyone has a good way that they deal with the little f**kers I'm all ears.

The showers are always better/less busy than standard camping, the toilets depend on the supplier they use each year.

The main benefits are - no queue to get in, short distance to carry stuff to the tent, there is a 'pamper' tent with mirrors/beanbags/hairdryers, but the past couple of years the electricity has been hogged by phones/power packs so it can be hard to get a spot.
