I think Leonard Cohen had an agreement not to show his set (aside from one song? I’m sure Ive seen Dance me to the end of love on Glastonbury tv compilations) in 2008, cos he was releasing a live dvd and didn’t want to cannibalise his own potential sales. you could be forgiven for thinking ‘greedy sod’ but he was systematically ripped off my his manager - also his partner - who’d been diddling him out of his own dosh for decades. He had to go on the road in his seventies to try and scrape a living together. So fair enough Len 👍 -
NO I just think that most of the youth won't care about Mr Young or know any of his songs. They won't be upset that he is not playing. Now I am not saying all of them , but most. I can't name one of his songs and I am 47. I know if i heard one i would recognise it. -
Only 5 songs from Neil Young last time were broadcast, not being televised used to be a lot more common. Nowadays its very much the exception, last done for the Stones i think (might be wrong, but regardless almost 10+ years ago) -
They can do better than Pulp I think but I certainly wouldn't be complaining. Some doubt they are big enough but I would argue this: Blur - a very similar act did 2 wembley dates as an exclusive (1 sold pretty poorly, the other sold out). Pulp didn't do any shows this large but did absolutely heaps of them across medium sized fests, including Finsbury Park which sold out and tons of other stuff. Its a case of spreading wide and doing paydays or like Blur did, doing fewer small shows to maintain size status (similar to how The Strokes do for instance in the UK). Think people would be pretty chuffed as well, clearly here would be!

I promise you I'm not the only one bored to death of the same handful of people coming in to say EXACTLY the same thing. I'm not missing the point of anything. It's a headliners thread about a festival whose headliners haven't been announced yet, so people come here to enjoy speculating. It's beyond tiring to have the same smug posts from both sides. Can't we set up a new thread where the usual suspects can hash it out over sources, what's confirmed, what isn't, so those of us who want to avoid it can stay out?
