Cost of things

Good morning,

We have been going to Glastonbury every year since 2005 but had an enforced year of last year when we couldn’t get tickets.

I wanted to ask how much a pint of cider was at the Brothers Bar last year. Also am I right thinking that the bigger meals were around about £12 a pop?

This is a regular conversation around our dinner table.

We're budgeting for £7 pints, £10 spirit and mixer, £15 for decent pizza / larger meal, £10 for the smaller bowls.

We're there for the food as well. Some people want to see more bands, we're planning to eat more food 🙂

Yeah definitely think pints will be £7 this year and the rest you're spot on.

Do we know if they're doing the places that offer the £6 meals this year?

Oh I’ve just worked out how to quote! I used to be on here a lot but had to reregister.

This is really useful! I’m not fussed about any of the bands this year so it gives more time to eat! 😂 We also take our three children and being able to cater to each of them with something they love is a massive bonus.

Brothers Bar was £6 last year. Good chance it stays the same this year as it was £5 for ages, they probably don’t want the bother of dealing with 50p change (even though they now take card) and £7 would be too much of a leap.

Do expect the other bars to be hitting £7 though.

We went through this last year.  What is on offer for £6 can hardly be called a "meal".

those meals are worse value for what you get than if you bought the expensive option. the vendors take a good scheme and just take the piss with it

Think it really depends on the stall - some were clearly taking the piss but there were a few (which I now unfortunately can't remember) where it felt really good value.

As mentioned elsewhere, the pasty/chips/beans offering for £6 is decent value for a festival offering, some of the other stalls not so much....

yes there a few away from the main market areas. the lost horizon cafe gave a good amount. it wasnt the only large portion i saw there. stir your own coffee because the old guy in the back doesnt use a spoon!

For a pint of absolute kittens piss

Brooklyn Lager - wasn't great if I recall?

Anyone know what we can look forward to this year?

I've made a mental note to take more booze to the SE Corner this year.

£6 per can was painful, particularly as I had plenty at the van...

May be the vegans that are hit worse this year... Our biggest price increases for the last year have been in vegetables believe it or not, bigger than beer and meat!

Particularly potatoes! It's something to do with all the rain Northern Europe and the UK have had ruining crops.

Can't remember if it was the thread on here or on social media somewhere, but I'm sure I saw someone saying meals at Bearded Theory were around £15

Yeah, it was about that.

Personally I've always found Bearded to be priced a little above Glastonbury levels for food, and a little below for alcohol.

These prices are making me wonder if there's a custard cream limit at the gate. How many custard creams would it take to sustain an adult male throughout the whole festival?

You'd surely be looking at 2-3+ packets a day? Just to soak up the booze etc.

On the drinks front, some interesting snippets from the Bars page for beer fans. Hopefully this means a better offering than last year's Brooklyn Pilsner (Festival's Version) in a few more places.

As always, Glastonbury Festival presents a myriad of bars across the site so you’ll never be far away from your favourite tipple. Whether it’s craft IPA, real ale, a cooling glass of rose, a pint of local  fruit cider, premium spirits, hard seltzers, an Italian aperitif or a coffee based cocktail to pick you up, keep your eyes peeled for the bar that has the right vibe for you. You will find the prices equivalent to London pub prices

If you’re heading to the BBC Introducing stage then look out for Bar on the Green’s new location right next door. This well loved bar offers plenty of indoor seating, cocktails, premium beers – including non alcoholic & disco tunes well into the night.

The Brewery is new for 2024 – just along the boulevard from the Pyramid Stage that we hope will soon become a firm Festival must-visit. Take a seat & enjoy your favourite drink & music with your favourite people

Do you enjoy the chilled vibe of the Acoustic field & you’re a beer aficionado? Then the rustic, traditional Cockmill with cosy snugs offering the finest choice of craft, real & local Somerset ales is for you . It also offers amazing panoramic views from the pagoda beer garden

If your wanderings mean that you end up in the Woodsies area of the Festival then make sure that you visit the funky wonderland that is The Woods Bar. Irresistibly catchy tunes spun by the coolest DJs sit alongside a great selection of beers, ales, wines, spirits & non alcoholic drinks

Or it may just be same old, same old. Who knows.
