In previous years you could wander into those fields and still make time to see your favourite large act no matter what stage they were playing on. If the future going to be that you need to get to each stage an hour before the act is on to avoid stage closures/route closures/crushes then obviously the things that people previously dipped in and out of will suffer reduced footfall the most. This is the first year where I really felt like I didn't do very much of that wandering at all - to be fair it was the latest we ever arrived on Wednesday, and with Skream & Benga at 6pm being one of three non-negotiable acts over the entire weekend, my usual Wednesday/Thursday bimble was cut into, but even still, on Friday once I saw West Holts was closed we didn't bother heading over that way at all as figured there would be one way in operation all nearby so that was another day we didn't go anywhere near it.

Yeh they were searching non stop. There was even extra staff pulling people from the passing crowd sending them to tables that were already occupied to wait to be searched, but they seemed to ignore us older folk. I dunno, maybe I'm just lucky, but it definitely seemed like targets were being picked out based on some sort of criteria. (On Sunday however, we were late, walked through just before legend slot, all tables empty, and still not searched, but I only had the backpack and satchel then though.) It was the same last year, I sailed through every single time, with a backpack and satchel. My 20 year old son would get searched each and every time, and he was only carrying one of those cross body man bag things. It became such a running joke that on Saturday evening we suggested me carrying his bag too. (Ironically, my son has never even smoked a cigarette, and barely ever drinks, never mind anything 'illegal!' Of the two of us, I'm definitely the one to search, but I would never fit any profiles, so... 😉 )

agreeing with this, I have several backpacks (in my caravan so can bring loads of crap) a tiny one that I use when cycling that just about fits my phone battery banks and a small water bottle, a bigger one that I can squeeze a jumper into and a bigger one still that I can stash 8-10 cans of beer, but it's a thin one to they 'stack' and don't just fill the base like a carrier bag. daytime I use the smallest two depending on weather, as I'll use the bars for beer, evening, i'll dig out the bigger one so i don't have to move if I want a drink. previous years I used to use a nice Volcom skateboard backback, where I used the board carrier to hold a chair, filled it with beer and snacks, etc etc - great if I was going from a car to a spot on a beach, but I finally realied it was killing me dragging it miles around the festival.
