Oh, that's a fair point. Was she meant to be headlining Other then though? I remember her saying it was "unfathomable" she was headlining the second stage, followed by a lot of debate whether she meant that as a compliment or as an insult.
Either way, I seem to recall a lot of chatter and speculation she torched her reputation behind the scenes with her behaviour over the build-up and then the weekend itself. If Guns N' Roses can turn up on time and you can't... well, it's quite the moment.
I do genuinely think that something along these lines must've happened. Not necessarily Tyler, but a headline act has dropped out last minute and left a hole to fill. Announcing 5 of your 6 headliners at once is quite odd, but would at least drum up interest in the future for the 6th one. To announce him the day later, and have him be by some margin the weakest of the bunch, implies that they needed a last minute replacement.
Its how little she tours or plays festivals I think. There are loads of similar sized acts from the 00s that people had plenty of chance to see at the time and since, at V Festival, or in some circumstances Reading, or even the smaller ones like Kendal etc, but Avril never played that sort of thing and only did limited tours once every 5+ years.
Given all the extras in New York, part of me does wonder - but surely it's a small-capacity show if so? I think it would move tickets, but it would feel like a curveball risk.
