Primavera Sound 2025

Are we expecting this to be close to selling out? Seen the last few Primavera's have cheaper tickets close to the event.

Think the general concensus is that this will probably be sold out within a couple of weeks, but Prima is absurdly easy to get secondhand tickets for. When I went in 2022, it 'sold out', and you could get tickets for less than half price in the fortnight before hand

Yeah, i’ve bought mine at the 265 euro price point circa £236 and fully expect to see tickets on Twickets for less closer to the time. But its less faff to just get it now

i managed around £155 on twickets for the 2024 festival

Theres a chance they dont go low but i suspect they will. If anyone sells closer to the time, someone trying to buy who doesnt have flights and accom already sorted will soon realise these are prohibitively expensive in the weeks leading up

The Maccabees were always landfill indie, right?

They were definitely right in the midst of that era.

I think Given to the Wild is a better record than most of the other landfill indie bits that came out around then, suggested they had something a bit different in their arsenal.

That said, coming back to headline a festival is mad to me. I never would have put them in that bracket.

I've been checking how the predictions were... let's have a look:

A total of 35 artists were correctly predicted, including 6 of the big names proposed, missing only LCD Soundsystem from the headliners.

With the headliners and the undercard together, what we have is the next results:

🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 90% (I said "Expect most of these names", and all of them except Tyler are in)
FKA Twigs, Tyler, The Creator
Jamie XX, Fontaines D.C., Idles, MJ Lenderman, Alan sparhawk, The Jesus Lizard, Cassandra Jenkins, Turnstile

🔥🔥🔥🔥 53% (I said "Expect more than the half of them")
Chappell Roan, Lorde, Anohni & The Johnsons, Beach House
Kim Petras, Clairo, Caribou, The Hard Quartet, Amaia, Mogwai, Magdalena Bay, Casero, Judeline, Kelly Lee Owens, Aiko el Grupo, Lil Yatchy, Parcels, Deafheaven, Grizzly Bear

🔥🔥🔥 25% (I said "Expect a handful of these artists")
Nine Inch Nails, Olivia Rodrigo, Iggy Pop
Floating Points, Artemas, Waxahatchee, Rachel Chinouriri, Maruja, Friko, Carolina Durante, Hinds, Geordie Greep, Refused, Father John Misty, English Teacher, Dirty Three, Ralphie Choo, Mustafa, Svsto, Brutalismus 3000

🔥🔥 25% (I said "expect a couple of single names from this list")
Kali Uchis, Tame Impala, Charli XCX, MARINA, Rahim Redcar (aka Christine & The Queens),  Bon Iver, Nick Cave, The XX
Mura Masa, Yaya Bey,
Gouge Away, Newdad, illuminati hotties, Mabe Fratti, Still House Plants, Joana serrat, Fermin Muguruza, Playero, Maria Escarmiento, Ciutat, Amore, Barry B, TV on The Radio, Lambrini Girls, Haim, Mercury Rev, Zeal & Ardor, Nilufer Yanya, Heartworms, The Dare, Rusoswsky, Paris Texas

🔥 20% I said "don't expect more than one name from here, just in case", exactly one from the headliners and two from the undercard 😉
Radiohead, Childish Gambino, Sabrina Carpenter, Nelly Furtado, Portishead, Dua Lipa, A$AP Rocky
Interpol, Phoebe Bridgers,
Denzel Curry, Slowdive, Have a Nice Life, Jpegmafia, Bright Eyes, Chat Pile

◯ (Unlikely) 0% (As I said "don't expect any", and no one from here has been listed)
R.E.M., Alanis Morissette, The Cure
The Flaming Lips, Soccer Mommy, Cindy Lee

🛇 (Ruled Out) 0% (None of these artists came, as expected)
Oasis, Billie Eilish, Iron Maiden, Pixies, Justin Timberlake, Kylie Minogue, Wilco
Supergrass, The Get Up Kids, Japandroids, Shonen Knife, Franz Ferdinand, Maya Hawke, Beak>, King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard, Godspeed You! Black Emperor, Rufus du Sol, Osees

As you can see, most of the 'likely' artists finally were in the line-up (and we still have to wait to the a la ciutat shows where I think we could find a couple more), and none of the 'unlikely' artists were announced

harsh but fair

Hmmm I'm not so sure, the first album was one of the best of its ilk, obviously of a genre that gets sneered upon a lot (in many cases fairly)

But I think in terms of quality, they're up there with a lot of the mid-sized bands on the Primavera line-up, the likes of Fontaines DC and IDLES for sure
