A new increase in the ticket prices from tommorow. Should we expect the day splits after that?

Anyone with memories from last year?

Also, does all names from the current poster suppose to play between 4th and 8th oh june. Since i'm still planning the dates for the trip and want to be sure to not miss some of those names.

they were asked about day tickets in twitter and answered mui pronto, I believe it will be this week (especially if, like they say, full fest tickets are almost over)

as for names - yes, the cuidad names should come later, what we have now are for the main days

Think if you are already planning on going three days, this (new) day splits reveal thing is a bit of a non event.

Looking forward to the new Ciutat names though - though wouldn’t surprise me if they make us wait til next year.

Although there does seem to be a growing tendency for festivals to cluster similar bands on the same day.

I guess it helps with single, more lucrative, day tickets, but a heavily stacked lineup can suddenly look very uneven.

I think it's useful for listening to new artists. Like if I see that one day is already stacked for me and one is rather weak, I can focus on the weak day to fill it up a bit. Looking at a poster of 150 names is a bit overwhelming in that regard.

I don't agree, for example last year after the day splits I discovered that all my favorites played on Thursday and I organized myself to search good names of the other 2 days

It won’t tell you anything about clashes.

I disagree. Most likely, lcd and Fka will be on different days as 2nd headliners. The other best act of those days that will not play Mordor goes against them. They did this very often in the last years (deftones vs pulp, jai paul vs the national, American football vs mitski…)

It wont tell you the exact clashes obviously, but it will tell you if there's a super strong day like last year's Thursday.

last year we couldn't tell what will clash but everyone here understood from the beginning that most likely we wont be able to see  all of Vampire Weekend, Pulp and Beth Gibbons

Nah, you can make educated guesses but they are still guesses.

There are just too many acts to know about clashes from the poster.

Hope we can experience Idles and LCD collab performing Dancer. That would be epic.

I saw them both play at Malahide Castle, Dublin this summer and expected a collab but no joy. Not to say they wont, but I was a wee bit disaapointed they didnt then.

Do you really think the lineup is being so so so successful and the tickets are selling this quickly??? I must live in a bubble

Yes.

Charli, Chappell and Sabrina are huge ticket shifters. And two of them don't have anything in the calendar for next year.

I'm not a Sabrina fan, and I'm a bit lukewarm on Chappell these days. But you can't deny the star power from such a strong trio.

I wasn’t expecting this either. But considering the timing of the price increases compared to the previous edition, it seems so.

Last edition they didnt increase it to 325 until may, months after the previous increase. This time it was on october, just 6 days after the lineup drop.

And not only that, another 6 days later they have increased it again to 350, a price not seen before.

350 euros seems like an excessive price to me... obviously, times have changed, but it's clear that a large part of that expense is necessary to book big names in the industry. I've always been a strong advocate for headliners at Primavera Sound being something completely secondary, but inevitably, they impact other aspects and features of the festival.

It becomes difficult to pay those prices when, for the most part, you want to see smaller artists that you can access at much lower prices in other festivals or on their own tours

But standalone shows are also getting way more expensive. I do concur that 350 euros is a lot for Spanish salaries, so I wonder how many people will attend from abroad and whether that will be enough to actually lead to a sold out fest.

Some standalones are crazy. I paid £130 for three days at Meo Kalorama last year. At the same time, our local arena was charging that for some single gigs.

I am curious how circular the argument that the big three female names are bringing in the audience is though. If they cost a lot, but sell out the festival, making the other 150 artist viable, then great. But are they actually just allowing the organisers to have a bigger festival that makes more money?

Primavera is totally commercial in the way they runs things, as it's not like they seek local cultural and arts subsidies. So staying "true to themselves" will take second fiddle to jumping on trends that will make them lots of cash.

I think ultimately, what will happen is that you get even more segregated crowds like you currently see, where a certain chunk of attendees will just spend all their time at Mordor and Amazon Music Stage.
