Primavera Sound 2025

Primavera is totally commercial in the way they runs things, as it's not like they seek local cultural and arts subsidies. I think ultimately, what will happen is that you get even more segregated crowds like you currently see, where a certain chuck of attendees will just spend all their time at Mordor and Amazon Music Stage.

I know people were talking about Radiohead being special in 2016, but it was one of my favourite times at Primavera because 80% of the audience were watching. I wandered around and watched a few bands up close, without any fuss, so I'm hoping the same this time 🙂

I am curious how circular the argument that the big three female names are bringing in the audience is though. If they cost a lot, but sell out the festival, making the other 150 artist viable, then great. But are they actually just allowing the organisers to have a bigger festival that makes more money?

This year after cancelling all the South American editions, and the site in being pretty quiet Thursday and Saturday, i wonder if theyve got some big losses to make up for.

This is apparently very close to selling out. If true I'm not surprised tbh.

If anyone isn’t feeling the lineup and wants to resale their tickets, feel free to drop me a DM!

Honestly surprised that these three headliners alone are driving Primavera to a sellout so quickly!

Can we expect Michael Kiwanuka to be added now that he is playing Porto? Cause I thought most acts that are playing only in Porto are either Portuguese or have played Barcelona the year before/are Primavera regulars.

He has never played Primavera, even though he seemed to be available lots of times, so I was surprised to see him in the lineup today.

I think he might be too big for Ciutat, but maybe a good name for the wednesday.

Too big for Ciutat, yeah, and think he would have been announced already if playing the Wednesday. Shame. Maybe he will step in if someone cancels.

Porto always has two or three names that are not in Barcelona lineup. Especially if headliners of Barcelona are not in Porto, like this year.

I'm doing my first Primavera largely off the back of these three headliners. Not even necessarily because they're my dream headliners (though I'm bang up for Charlie and Chappell), but because they've tempted my wider festival group! That's seven extra tickets.

See New Order; it's not like PS hasn't added names later on after the initial big announcement.

New Order are really the exception rather than the rule though. How many other big acts have been added without someone else dropping off first?

New Order, and The Smile on 22, but that's it in recent years. Definitely the exception

I do think The Smile got added because Massive Attack dropped and M.I.A. got moved to their Mordor slot, leaving space at Cupra.

Just made the mistake of looking at beach house last set list. Started with Saltwater, ended with Somewhere Tonight and On The Sea as an encore. 3 of my favourites, only 1 I've heard live before having already seen them 5 times. Ugh

Those were special small venues though. I wouldn't necessarily count on those showing up at PS.

I actually believe that there will no new names getting added besides Boiler Room and maybe some late replacements as there are always artists that cancel.

Probably Ciutat and Wednesday names are already on the lineup and they will just distribute them for all the week. I mean, it’s selling out better than ever, so what’s the point of adding more artists and spend more money?

They said it on the news update with the lineup- Wednesday's names are on the poster, ciutat will be published later

the percentage of people swayed by the ciutat line up is probably next to none. it doesn't really influence sales in any way. it's just a thing they do to give back to the city and their venues, helps them get beer sales in etc and gets people staying in Barcelona longer and spending more money on accommodation and on food/drink.

Yeah that’s why they are even going to scale it down this year, not sure that we are going to get something like The National. My guess is that probably Haim are doing the Wednesday show at Forum, and the Ciutat will be composed of smaller names, maybe TVOTR special show in some of the city venues, and probably that’s.

The National was an exception to the rule really. Other than 2022 it's never anyone big.
