Blue Roue traffic - Leaving Love fields and Castle Cary station

Hi guys

We are staying at Love Fields this year and driving down arriving Wednesday afternoon.  We have some friends (also staying in Love Fields) arriving via train and asked if we'd be able to get out and pick them up (we can't fit them in the car before we've dropped off our tent and bags - small ar probelms). Have some doubts about this but wondering if anyone can share:

 - how havy is traffic typically on blue route at say 2 - 3pm Wednesday?

 - how easy is it to leave blue route by the one way system Wednesday afternoon?

Are there any road closures / can you even drive to Castle Cary station? I know the carpark is closed but are there any other restrictions?

Alternative is they get the shuttle but they are hoping to avoid the Gate A - gate C wlk with their bags.

Thanks

Hi....traffic on Blue Route will be very light by Weds afternoon and you should encounter very little off site traffic going to/from Castle Cary also.

You'll be able to leave Love Fields by the Blue Route one-way system without a problem....the exit will be out onto the main A361 just east of Pilton village opposite the B3136 junction to Shepton Mallet.

Once you reach the A361 you should be able to turn right and head the 2km to the junction with the A37.  Any right turn here will probably be restricted so you will need to turn left, and then take a right at the nearby roundabout onto the A371 direct down to Castle Cary.

Returning from Castle Cary you will need to retrace your route back up the A371, take a left at the roundabout, then 2km head south on the A37 before turning right into Blue Route.  Note there are shorter routes than this loop but they are unusable due to road closures.

Hope this helps.
