Guinness

I had the worst pint of Guinness I've ever tasted at the Bimble Inn. I wouldn't bother with Guinness at a festival, you're guaranteed a shite pint. Then again I tend to avoid it if I'm not in Ireland because it's nearly always crap, doesn't travel well.

I think The Spinney also might have had it last year.

Not familiar with that. A quick search tells me it's in The Park - just a bar, or stage/something else?

Not so much the travelling, it isn't cask / real ale, it's in pressurised kegs. It's the fact that almost every pub in the UK serves the 'Extra Cold' version, since Diaggio pushed it years ago in an attempt to improve summer sales here. That and some pubs just don't know how to serve it well, clean lines, clean glass, proper gas, proper nozzle, correct pour and settle, etc etc.

If you can find a pub in the UK that serves their Guinness standard, not extra cold, and they know how to serve it, you'll see what I mean, but they're few and far between. (I think there's a pub famous for serving Guinness at the original temperature in London, but I may be fabricating that memory.)

I badly WANT the Guinness on our bar to be original, but the whole cellar is setup for extra cold these days, like most English cellars, so we simply can't. 😢

Edit: To clarify, by 'extra cold version' I mean they run it through an extra cold remote cooler... It's the same kegs of Guinness, just our cooler setups are different here. Thought I better clarify that before somebody points out there is no such thing as an 'extra cold.'
