People do seem to relish in accusing Israel of genocide or calling it a holocaust or they're as bad as the nazis etc., but this does not mean Israel should be immune of accusations of carrying out genocide of the people of Gaza if they meet the definition...which is:
In the present Convention, genocide means any of the following acts committed with intent to destroy, in whole or in part, a national, ethnical, racial or religious group, as such:
- Killing members of the group;
- Causing serious bodily or mental harm to members of the group;
- Deliberately inflicting on the group conditions of life calculated to bring about its physical destruction in whole or in part;
- Imposing measures intended to prevent births within the group;
- Forcibly transferring children of the group to another group.
So Israel will fight this in the courts, saying they did not intend to harm civilians, collateral damage, fault of Hamas etc., and will possibly use the exception of Jewish history of persecution and the reason behind Israel existing and the atrocities of Oct 7th...but I don't think any of that will be enough, there is just too much evidence against them.
Could be. Obvs last time it ran, Superstruct incurred potentially massive losses due to the weather/part cancellation, etc. That site is very boggy - remember if from when it was a Jodrell Bank branded event. The only time I've ever needed a tow out of the car park...
Personally, I really hope he doesn't headline next year...because i won't be there, but that's the only reason. I really don't want to miss his first headline set, I'll be gutted beyond words.
Loved his music when his streaming numbers were in the low tens of thousands, and it's been amazing to watch his career grow. I introduced him to a pal in Florida, I'd worked with. He's in his seventies and is a huge Springsteen fan. He believes that Fender will be as influential. He appeals to a huge cross section.
He showed in 22 that he had the skeleton of a great headline set. The early stuff from the second album shows great potential, I'm expecting it to be a belter. Leave Fast doesn't appear to be on his setlists and he never played it in 22. I love that song and if he played it mid set in a headline show, I know it'd be a true moment for me.
Really hope he's the 2027 headliner!
You're welcome to disagree with me, that's fine.
I'm not struggling to grasp anything, but I also don't need your forced opinion on me because I disagree with it like my opinion isn't forced on you and I accepted you can disagree. Korn and Deftones have subbed the festival before and Deftones were never talked about headlining this year or any year. Korn have at least been mentioned about getting the bump up before now which is where the difference is. Korn were at least involved in a multiple city joint arena tour and Deftones subbed it twice after Wembley Arena, Ally Pally and now Crystal Palace Bowl. Some of those others aren't doing that, they are a support act for someone doing those venues. Let's be clear though, no one said Korn are suitable, no one said they haven't worked their say up, no one said they couldn't put on a worthy show but then many bands on an undercard probably could. Many people accepted they deserve it while many others have said they are a weak headliner and just not big enough in scale and both views are probably correct.
Paramore have been mentioned by Andy for so long now the whole thing of them having been future headliners just got boring just like anything else he mentioned like that or anything does. He is just generally full of rubbish.
Blink 182 were already going to play in 2005 before pulling out so they aren't a band that need anyone to let them in. If Download is going to change that much that some of them bands mentioned as future headline acts between 7-10 years ago happen then they were never a future option at that time as the festival wasn't even in plans for a different kind of direction at that time.
