He certainly does…his set list from last night puts him in headliner territory (50% of it being classics by The Police…assuming he plays them straight and doesn’t do weird muzak versions of them).

I would almost suggest Sting hasn't played Glastonbury either of the last two years due to that he would want a higher slot than they want to give him.

He's proposed himself for the legends slot. I think he's probably aware that it'd put him a position where there's a lot less pressure, likely a much bigger crowd, and just about as much kudos as any headline set. Basically - lower risk, higher reward.

 

Same as if Kylie had headlined in 2019 it wouldn't have gone nearly as well.
