NorthernSoul52 Posted yesterday at 11:36 AM Report Share Posted yesterday at 11:36 AM If we're talking Radio 2 on the Pyramid, Wonder and Stewart is a properly retro pair. Timewarp to the seventies.
Rose-Colored Boy Posted yesterday at 11:41 AM Report Share Posted yesterday at 11:41 AM Stevie is timeless. Rod is just old.
NorthernSoul52 Posted yesterday at 11:45 AM Report Share Posted yesterday at 11:45 AM Is it though? Stevie has put out some right shite over the years, same as Rod, same as everyone else.
Rose-Colored Boy Posted yesterday at 11:50 AM Report Share Posted yesterday at 11:50 AM One of the most important and influential musicians of all time vs someone whose most famous contribution to the 21st Century is being hammered at a cup draw. Any comparison between the two feels incredibly surface level. 1

balti-pie Posted yesterday at 12:23 PM Report Share Posted yesterday at 12:23 PM Steve Wonder is magnificent, his 70's run of albums is right up there with anyone ever for brilliance, and he's an utter musical polymath on loads of instruments, with an amazing voice as well. stone cold 10/10. An actual genius when that term is ridiculously overapplied. But you're damn right he's released some absolute steaming terrible shite as well, most particularly in the eighties. Thats easily ignored for me, happily 👍

To return to @Rose-Colored Boy - who, I think it's fair to say, we typically align on - absolutely no denial that Wonder is one of the great musical geniuses of the back half of the twentieth century. Genuinely a sensational songwriter and musician on his day. But at the same time, Rod has endured for a reason. The man might well be the greatest covers singer of his generation and that's not to be sniffed at either, I guess. Either way, both playing adds a very Tony Blackburn flavour to proceedings on the Sunday.

Rose-Colored Boy
Third incredible instagram post from him in the last eight days, including the “pleasure and titillate” Glastonbury announcement.
NorthernSoul52
The mere use of the word "titilate" is very light entertainment smut, to be fair.
