Stewart, though not this year, has played more than a dozen-and-a-half arena and stadium shows in the UK since the pandemic. He's not a particularly juicy cut in that sense. 

 

I suspect there's not much crossover though, I can't imagine too many glasto goers are big Rod Stewart fans that would pay (presumably) a lot of money to go watch him perform.

If the headliners are the rumoured 1975, Rodrigo and Fender then I think Rod will have a bigger crowd than all of them.

Billy Joel also a headliner or bust, I think. Don't think he'd accept anything less when he's pretty much just a stadium artist these days with that catalogue in depth.

While I am not a huge fan of Rod, it's obvious to me that he is a pop rock legend and fits the bill perfectly. Sure, there are other acts that I would be over the moon about being booked for Sunday teatime but, personally, I think this is a great booking and it's certain to be a moment to witness -- or, at least, a moment that you can say you knowingly missed for something you cared a lot more about elsewhere. 😉

 

Better and more appropriate than the Shania booking IMHO.

Just heard Rod on the wireless saying its going to cost him 300k to bring his band over. 

 

Does this suggest it's a late decision as he's touring the USA next summer ?
