Compulsory?!

We had that many many years ago with "vodka day".  A year of terrible rain, nobody could go far, but loads of our camp had brought a bottle so we had to get rid of it.

No its not.

Was wondering that, looked the same as ever this year.

I had no checks at Gate D.

Did anyone else notice significantly fewer NOS sellers on site this year? We spoke about how you'd normally hear that tell tale hiss so much. But there seemed to be a lot less this year. Wonder if they've gotten stricter or it's because it's now illegal?

Its a new company that has taken over security for the festival. After the fallow year, big chances are going to be made and its just not going to be the same sadly. Corporate involvement is on the horizon 😪

Hello Alison C,

I am wondering if you would elaborate - especially when taking into account 'Paul ™'s' subsequent response?

The only time I got searched when going through gate C at 8.00 am on the Saturday morning, they first wanted to check my tote back - which had 4 empty plastic bottles that I was taking the chance to fill up whilst going in to collect some light wristbands, told them and showed them what was in there and was waived on, moved 5m further forward and was then approached by another guy, thought he wanted to check the bag too, told him with a cheery smile the same and like a real grumpy c*nt he just grumbled something about checking my pockets, he half arsed around for 30 secs continuing his lovely demeanor and then it was all over. I had a small amount of tablets in my pocket which he completely missed. For me it just seemed they were checking everyone at that time as there were more of them then there were of us.

interestingly met a couple who were kicked out of the campervan section because they were caught doing them. Said they had to find a field 10 minutes down the road!

Good

It’s a ridiculous and pointless drug.

Only time I saw it being sold was I’m Block 9. Sellers using their phone screen to advertise and then taking payments through their phone

Definitely heard it being done whilst walking around the campsites and saw one of the large bottles abandoned on the grass somewhere.

Saw someone being escorted from Silver Hayes by security for selling NOS. Loudly protesting that “everyone  was doing it”.

Had a group of 15 or so doing it near us before for The Streets. Looked like a bunch of 30 somethings having a children’s party.

The risk vs reward of bringing in a large can doesn’t seem worth it for such a sh*t drug. Not like you can just stick it in your underwear on the way in.

NOS definately seemed much reduced I actually don’t think I came across it on more than a couple of occasions , didn’t visit SEC , stone circle or spend more than a few mins in San remo though which are the usual hot spots

We had three tents around us hammering the silly balloons in Sticklinch.

There seemed to be a lot of issues in WV and Sticklinch this year with drugs, tents being rampaged and fights

There was too much cocaine on site, there’s too much cocaine in the UK in general

I remember when you could get laughing gas balloons in my local nightclub.

Never understood it or liked it personally, but it's strange to think about now that it was ever allowed in the first place.

Mix it with other stuff and it's pretty complementary.

In the last year we've been asked, by our suppliers, to prove that we're a business, and show why we need creamers. (Which was obviously very easy, since we have public menus that show Eton Mess and Hot Chocolates with fresh whipped cream.)

I wonder if there has been some industry wide tightening up of the supply? I've heard nothing, and know nothing, other than the above, but it does make me wonder.

EDIT: Yep, looks like the laws changed to make it Class C and illegal to possess without a valid use in Nov 2023, my supplier is just trying to stay the right side of guidelines around it's supply.

Only evidence of NOS this year I saw was empty canisters on the grass in Silver Hayes and the Stone Circle. Even then, not loads. Didn’t hear the whooshing noise once.

Really? I have never seen anything remotely like this at WV (7 visits), can't speak for Sticklinch as I've never stayed there.

We weren't searched at all going in to WV off the coach (although we did get caught in the huge tailback of traffic from Bristol so weren't on site until about 7pm). We didn't get searched at all going through the gate at Strummerville for the whole 5 days, either way. Usually we get stopped at least once and it turns into an extended disco mix of a search once they hear our northern Irish accents.
