Kenny Rogers in 2013 for me. Knew and liked a few of his songs so thought I'd pop along for a bit and if wasn't any good head off somewhere else. But he was superb- great songs and interaction with the crowd- an all round great show.
and now Labour are all worried about the next election and Reform and instead of focusing on green new deals or whatever they're going all blue labour with all the social/culture authoritarian stuff but so far without all the left wing economic stuff...so kind of just like Tories and Reform.
I think easier to be a (shadow) minister than leader.
Labour just need someone who comes across as normal, has the gift of the gab etc...Starmer doesn't have it, Corbyn did a bit, Miliband can be funny guy but he also is a nasally nerd, Blair definitely had it and Brown didn't.
But Labour's problems aren't just down to Starmer. They f**ked it in ruling out things like tax rises and EU stuff before election, understandable but now makes life very difficult. They f**ked up with the winter fuel payment, announcing it early on before a long break and killing any honeymoon they had. And they are all over the shop desperate for growth so they have money to spend going forward but doing thing that hurt growth like tax rises on businesses and workers rights and raising minimum wage...and people just think that things are still sh*t and they're not going to get better and Labour are the same or worse than the tories and may as well have a roll of dice and have a punt on Reform.
