Just as a note you normally need to be recommended by a current recycler - rules might change this year though as changes are afoot.

Changes seem to be afoot in many areas of the festival.

It’s a changing of the guard.

A lot of it seems to be positive. I just hope that the festival doesn’t loose its identity with too much change too quickly

Just to make sure it's worth my while, is this in relation to just accessibility or more general?

It started off as accessibility- Stone Circle’s dreadful experience. But quickly became a bit of a slanging match

Hello fellow ♻️

I’ve sent a speculative email to critical waste regarding 2025 changes

not had a reply yet

anyone on here got an ear to the ground/info

im early I know 😁

I sent an email and got a reply and you are right that they may be changing things.
They are probably quite oversubscribed if they do keep nominations from other member for the main festival.

They mentioned that the clear up after the festival might have more availability and be a good way for them to get to know you.

I also asked if I was lucky enough to get a ticket - if they accept help volunteers from the general ticket-goers to do a test shift, but it seems that wouldnt be encouraged as not insurable etc. I was quite keen to do this (to test if I could cope with the role too!) but it makes sense.

Eek. Changes scare me. I'm always paranoid they're just going to randomly turn round to me and say "actually, we don't want you back this time". Not that they'd have any reason to say that, but it still scares me.

I know the Recycling Crew usually start taking new names in December/January time, but like previously said, competition might be tough for a first timer. But (if you're flexible and can move fast) sometimes people drop out and you could get called up out of the blue last minute. I net a few people who that happened to.

you also need to be recommended by a current recycle crew volunteer

Hey ♻️

I’ve received an emai back

We are currently waiting for the festival to sign-off on the 2025 recruitment, but I do know that everyone who completed all of their shifts this June will receive an invitation to apply for 2025.

hope this helps I know we’re a way off yet!

Thanks

That is good to hear for those who were worried. I hope to join the recycling/litter picking crew at some point!

I have always been passionate about recycling over the years, and realised how satifying litter picking is 😆

My day job is fundraising , so it would be great to combine the two.

Reassurance is nice. I feel like that's something the Recycling Crew could improve on. Large spaces of time seem to elapse without any word, and it makes people nervous. I know the organisers are busy but I feel like the odd reassuring Facebook post/email would prevent a lot of people sending anxious emails to them.

Yes, it would be great to seem more photos and posts on social but I know they must be busy. Would love to see them at other festivals too - I saw Boomtown in the past, but not this year I dont think?

Looks like the website might be back - it wasnt working at all for me recently which is why I sent a pestering email

My dream job on the lockups. Under cover, get to chat to people. Nice.

It's a great service, never queued for longer than 5 minutes, and everyone I interacted with was full of happy vibes 👍

I'm wondering if that email would be indicative of the other major crews, e.g. bar staff, as I am also wondering if the expected invitation to reapply will come in before the ticket purchase dates!

Bar applications are normally well in to the new year - you won’t hear anything about that before ticket day!

I’m in the odd position of being ‘assured’ of continuing my volunteer work at the festival, but likely physically unable to do the same job spec. My plan is to devise a plausible adapted role, and seek approval as a route to success. Fingers crossed.
