coco_shunter
90% of the folk who go to TRNSMT don't have a clue or give a sh*t about the headliners. It's 14-16 year olds who just want to get wasted. Promoters know this, hence putting on Pulp last year which meant they sold 2x festivals for that day. Said 14-16 year olds headed out before Pulp, just as the 40+ brigade were heading in. Guess this means that the likes of Muse might make an appearance next year, to monetise as last year. Mind you - sold out this year without an act like that. Apparently even Liam Gallagher (hot off the heels of 2x Hydro gigs - didn't think that was normally allowed) had most of the crowd moaning during his set as they only knew the Oasis hits, ie not Definitely Maybe and its associated B-sides. Hardly anyone below the headliners gets paid - it's a £££-fest for DF. sh*t for c**ts.
LD1903
Reckon they could be nailed on for this since there’s no Scottish stadium date announced (not that I think they’re big enough for stadiums mind you 😂) https://x.com/thebottlemen/status/1825458940165136853?s=46&t=LmsSnZ5P1q8fcePdfLqd0g

This is not how festivals work - maybe for a club night with timed tickets but this definitely won't happen at TRNSMT.

Don't think @coco_shunteris claiming they sold 2 sets of tickets, more that they put on stuff which is lowest common denominator/not "coherent" and just try to pull in as many punters as possible. The line ups are mostly shocking. They presumably book acts like The Strokes and Pulp solely to maintain relationships or avoid someone else trying to stage something more tasteful in competition. DomDom1984
Royal Highland Showgrounds is pretty big, so Catfish are fine as a headliner. Also, no Scottish date definitely opens the door.

So they try and book a wide variety of acts to attract as many punters as possible? That doesn’t seem all that shocking.

DomDom1984
I'm beginning to think Justin Timberlake might turn up at this.

Would be very out there of a booking Do they still do glasgow summer sessions? complete wrong end of summer though. just seems very strange for TRNSMT. The booker is very blokes with guitarsy, not sure he'd go for them
DomDom1984
Sting is doing the Sessions in June but JT probably would have announced too if he was doing it.
NorthernSoul52
I'd have assumed they'd have confirmed Timberlake in advance of the lineup with his other dates.

DomDom1984
Yep. It'd take something special for TRNSMT to announce anything before they do their big announcement. T in the Park announcing The Stone Roses early is the only time I remember DF doing that. And obviously they weren't going to say no to that. NorthernSoul52
Fair enough. Not au fait myself enough on the structures. Timberlake would be a get, particularly given the lake of any Scottish shows on next year's roster as it stands.
chickenfire
Sam Fender seems like a lock at this point. Played multiple times before and timing adds up with the Winter arena tour and new album in the Spring.
NorthernSoul52
If Fender is doing big outdoor shows next year and not putting Murrayfield into the mix, then aye, seems a safe bet.
DomDom1984
Would fit DF's booking patterns. Although a third summer sessions is also a shout for him.
NorthernSoul52
Aye, not implausible in the slightest.
Jonathan Jonathan
Honestly reckon they could take a punt on Fontaines as headliners. Big outdoor shows at Finsbury, Wythenshawe and Cardiff Castle. Finsbury almost sold out. No Scotland date at the moment unless they play Summer Sessions.
DomDom1984
They'll sub if anything. I can't see TRNSMT taking that level of a punt.
Chiefski
Fontaines DC into Biffy Clyro sounds like an ideal top 2 for one of the days to me
NorthernSoul52
I think you have the nail on the head there. Biffy get a big hometown headline slot, Fontaines possibly get a larger than usual sub position.
