Can see Turnstile doing it. James said his 3 dream headliners were Alexisonfire, Biffy Clyro and Deftones so can see him trying for all 3 with Alexis probably most likely but he does have a close relationship with Simon Neil due to ESB but would mean increasing the capacity for Biffy & Deftones. 
 

I’m also hoping for FIDLAR. Was buzzing when the silent disco played By Myself.

Sounds about right. Genuinely didn't realise it was that cheap though as I've done four day VIP the last few years. A bargain when you consider Slam Dunk is around £130 for one day these days.

Slam Dunk on the whole books a bigger lineup but it's still extortionate. I was a stalwart at Slam Dunk but there's virtually nothing Slam Dunk will book to justify that cost again....I attended this year under tickets for good.

Shame about the setlist because they’ve got everything else. The new stuff just seems like a Ghost tribute act.

 It's got a couple of catchy choruses but the songs are just way too long and drawn out, and somehow even more-so live. Hope they go back down the punk route with their next music.

The problem there is though because it's being done on a sort of co-headline night as Don Broco popularity is way more at their own shows, and either the timings you want be able to finish any of those sets to get a decent spot for the next one. You had 5 minutes between death from above and Frank but then nothing for Creeper and Don Broco in that tent as well. So while the value might seem super, you might miss a song you really like and be like I need to see them play separately anyway.

They've booked Gaslight, The Chats, Don Broco and Frank Turner who aren't about to sub a major UK festival any time soon or headline a bit smaller one. Even if Victorious is 60,000, it doesn't book headliners that the likes of Reading will, it gets one major one.

And yeh I definitely don't see Biffy happening was just more of a what if. I imagine they're gearing up for a new album cycle next year so it'll likely be the bigger fests if any. I'll never stop dreaming of Simon Neil popping up to do a forest set one day though.

It is crazy value but the couple of songs you miss might be the one's you're kinda going for.

Assuming you’ve not done 2000 trees? Stages are so close you don’t miss any songs. If there’s a big band in a tent you might just want to stand near the back of the main stage to get a good spot. Watched all of Creeper and all of Don Broco and had a good spot for both.

Very much agreed on this. Only time I missed out this year was when the Axiom was too full and I watched a set before (e.g. Manchester Orchestra into Hot Mulligan and Movements into Boston Manor). Otherwise it's easy to get a good spot even midway into a set

Fair enough. Just think arguing against the price of trees when you may miss a song which isn’t actually true is a bit of an odd one. One of the best value festivals you’ll get these days. If you bought a weekend ticket with the 30% discount that’s as much as a Slam Dunk day ticket or most stadium shows now.

It's not so much an argument, just an observation.

 

The evening price absolutely you can't complain but the day full price especially has sky rocketed. You get 30% but you've got to pretty much know you're going on that. To be honest Slam Dunk is probably the most over priced English festival now so hard to compare.

I think the value at trees is in the camping  it's possibly due to the fact I have a group in VIP most of whom I met in 2022 at trees and as a result I'd go completely regardless of line up and still consider it worth the money

Yeah majority of my group go for the social side regardless of who's playing. I'm always pretty enamoured with the line up so am always confident in buying straight away.

I think due to music at the festival it works out good value even if you don’t know many acts as they always book the best new bands. Also if you like two of 3 headliners now or a couple of bigger acts over the weekend you’ve made your money as gig tickets are expensive now.

pretty much the same. it's my sort of music. I know I'll find enough I like to justify the cost. it's just such a relaxed festival too
