Given one of the first places some people heard the Oasis reunion announcement was absolutely coming was on a big screen at the end of a Blossoms gig the weekend before it was declared, I'm kinda surprised they've not been tapped in for these purposes as opposed to really doubling down on the 90s nostalgia-ness.

Guess they could be added later if they don't have the same bands for every show. Hope so! Really hoping for some fresher supports instead of The Cast and the likes.

Just anecdotal but feels like a lot of kids got tickets while the older crowds missed out. It won't be just 45+ yr olds living nostalgia there.

I think if it's 3 like usual for these size shows, Cast into Blossoms then Ashcroft sounds about right

Cast would be the best band on that day.

That's what they said about the reunion tweets months ago 😭

That's what they also said about Liam and Squire playing Glastonbury this year, and the hundreds of other wind up tweets he's done.

You only need to see the trail of tweets from that night really.

Cast supported Liam at the O2 this year so could see them taking on the opener slot. They have enough hits to get a lot of fans in early (and spending money at the bars etc -wasn’t there a story they’ve negotiated some of the food and drink takings going to the band?)

I was hoping for some more modern support acts rather than just a big nostalgia festival. Crikey, Cast were boring back in 1995, the epitome of dull blokey indie. Thats me talking as a huge Britpop head at that time too. Ashcroft? Uninspiring. I suppose I should expect it to be something like Rewind Festival but well, I can stay in the pub.

If i'd got tickets (😭) i'd be chuffed with those supports personally. Wouldn't have minded a Fontaines or a Blossoms thrown in if i was being greedy i suppose.

I'd say a lot more would stay in the pub with modern support acts...especially as that seems to just mean "Fontaines" for most people, which would go down terribly

Loving the comedy of people going to an Oasis concert in 2025, and then moaning that the *support* acts are a few years past their best.

Dont see anything wrong with hoping there would be a mix. Plenty of other older acts manage such a revolutionary idea.

Depends on the crowd. If the rumours are true that the younger cohorts did well in the ticket scrum going for pure oldies acts could fall a bit flat. If you’re going to have more than one support might as well mix it up. In Manchester in 1995 I saw the Chems support them, it doesn’t always have to be meat and potatoes indie from th’nineties only.

If its the Manics which i think is another rumour - Noel is suddenly gonna look like a very ordinary guitarist

The Manics would be a sick support act, but yeah. Bradfield is far closer in style to, say, Slash than anyone else in a major Britpop heavyweight. Fella can shred with the best of them.

As someone who has seen them 10+ times -    probably depends how far they can stay away from the new material is to how well the support slot would go down.

But yeah JDB gets hideously over looked when they talk about great guitarists.

I enjoyed the balance of the set on the Suede tour. Could have gone a couple of ways, but they did a very good job at having most of the hits with a few rogue shouts (come on down, Elvis Impersonator: Blackpool Pier!)
