I know I said earlier that I doubt we will get anything pre-Sempiternal but I guess it would be cool for them to chuck in a song they played during their set when they first played the festival in 2008 which is why I’ve gone for Chelsea Smile. I’ve gone with Blessed With A Curse because it’s been years since they played it and it’s pure fantasy.
I really hope they take Follow You out of the set and leave Antivist off (maybe the worst song I think they’ve ever made, fwiw).
The fact we're even questioning what direction the festival is going cannot be a good thing for organisers. I know people are saying Chappell and Charli are good additions and they've got a positive reaction (as well as Anyma), but they're playing other festivals as well. Festivals that have their regulars and have an identity.
I feel like the first announcement was an attempt at attracting a new audience. The issue is, I don't think it's strong *enough* for people to change their plans, when other festivals have fuller, better lineups already announced, which have Sziget headliners and more. Not to mention people will be taking a gamble on what's to come.
It feels like Sziget is in limbo. Nobody really knows what direction it's going in. The last couple of years feels like Sziget has lost it's star-power. Maybe to others it's gotten better, but as the festival has gotten more expensive, the lineups have not matched.
Really hope I'm wrong on this and things do resemble what they were previously, with a hint of modernity for a newer crowd.
