this is the nail on the head for me. Harking back to the quote from Emily a couple of pages back, I don't want people who aren't that bothered with an equal chance of getting tickets. I want the ticket buying to be a bit faulty in that it favours glasto obsessives.

 

They change to a 'fairer' system, you'll still have the hackers finding ways to cheat it, for the 99.9% of us who aren't that we just get our ticket chances greatly reduced.

I'm only a little bit techie, I'm certainly not very web techie.  But if nothing changes then I'm going to find a way to create a absolute tonne of sessions in the resales, because that's going to be the only way to compete.

Yep and also (contrary to some common assumptions) doesn't come out of the 142,000 public tickets. Reducing Hospitality allocations would not automatically free up those tickets for general public use.

I worked on the hospitality gates last year, and was absolutely befuddled by a couple late on the thursday- maybe about 8pm or 9pm, they went to leave, and didnt want a passout slip. They said they'd had a look around, and that was fun, and enough, and they wouldnt be going back in all weekend.

I was in the interstage area once (I get a pass due to Accessible needs) and got chatting to a lady who was venturing into the festival for the first time to see Ed Sheeran! It was Sunday night, she had never ventured out of the hospitality area. It's beyond belief that she hadn't explored the festival.

Welcome to the 'Insta Age' where a tick on a list is all they want and need and a photo or two to prove it.

To some just being there is the 'experience' rather than actually experiencing the whole thing.

Wouldn't want  a split nail or anything like that now would you.

They had hospitality wristbands on, and a buggy with a sleeping kid in, and said they were off home and definitely wouldnt be back. I said look, you might change your minds, just take the passouts! You might fancy seeing something on saturday afternoon! - but they werent having it at all. The hospitality tickets are printed with the company or artist that dished them out, i cant remember who it was but nobody of any relevance - i presumed they'd got them through their work and just wanted a look around the site to see what its like.

Ok, by all means do that, but at least watch a couple of bands ffs!

I think I'm angry that those spaces went to waste, when there's a gazillion people who'd love to have their wristbands. 

 

I probably shouldn't say this on here but take the pass outs and sell the wristbands to some mates... give them away if you like. Just don't leave empty spaces 🙂

I camped in hospitality this year. I met nothing but interesting people from a variety of backgrounds who were all absolutely committed to squeezing all the juice they could out of the festival. I'm sure there are some there who don't really care, particularly in the pre-pitched tents, but they'll be a tiny minority. I think the celebrities and the influencers, though they'll have hospitality wristbands, sleep elsewhere.

Haven't worked at Glasto for Oxfam since 2011 (also worked it 2005 and 2008) - I bet it's changed a lot since then! However I've worked Bearded, Beautiful Days, Shambala, Boomtown etc every year since 2014 - sometimes two a year.

The Scum is a disgusting rag of a 'newspaper' that is not held in any regard in the UK and I will be very surprised if this generates any traction. Also the 'statement' issued from Gfl seems to be a stock reply that I have seen several times particularly around this time of year when there is inevitably complaints around the ticket system.
