Last year I might have argued against this but the size of her audience at Glastonbury was ridiculous!  Not seen her mentioned as playing anywhere else next summer though?

Avril Lavigne would be a very strong booking . Catchy songs which most people know- I think she would draw a very large crowd.

I’ve not seen her touring next year so I reckon it’s unlikely

She is also touring, last year she was very close to Hungary, so 50%,the only reason is that her tours are not announced, so a bit unlikely, but things might change. And definitely Olivia Rodrigo is very possible.

Looks like they are smoking some good stuff in France. Whose idea was it to put Will Smith on the same day as Vampire Weekend, Idles, Wet Leg and The Last Dinner Party?

lol, this is this festival "particularity" : it's mostly Rap and Rock, everyday (with a little bit of pop or electro)

4 stages, including one which always is rock or metal.

My Guess Is that they are waiting to announce live band/bigger acts to convince people to buy tickets for an higher price later. I could be wrong, but so far the lineup fits a 21 under, and probably the sale of tickets under 21 or slightly over Is going well. For the generation that grew at Sziget (like me from 2014 ) : most of us now work and can afford tickets with higher prices, plus some of us also have to wait for vacation days. That's why I hope second way of names will reflect more our expectations. Even if not remotely in the way It used tò be back 10 years ago, because the direction of the festival Is clear, but maybe some good undercards... To be honest I think they're stressing the "experience" part way too much. But I must admit: last year It was not crowded at all, It was the First Sziget in which I didn't suffer because of too many people. That's something to take into consideration

This crossed my mind as well. Almost like trying to attract two different crowds with two different announcements, but targeting the younger crowd first, as they likely have less money and will book their festivals now.

Bit of a risky strategy if that is the case as I think the regulars now have more questions than answers. I think after last year people are starting to question the direction it's going, and for some that first wave might be enough to send them elsewhere. It will be interesting to see where they go from here, I'm not sure anybody really knows.

Lack of crowds means lack of income in ticket sales, unhappy food vendors and less money available for this edition I would guess.

Anyone else notice Dreher isn't listed as a sponsor or partner on the website this year?

If you are a regular Sziget-goer and don't frequent this hallowed forum, and all you see are the festival's social media posts, you must really be wondering what the hell that line-up announcement is all about.

If we don't get another announcement for a couple of months, then Sziget really needs to start outlining their amazing plans on socials, otherwise many of their usual punters will almost certainly be looking elsewhere. And that leaves them reliant on finding a whole new set of customers - not just one or two, but tens of thousands of them.

On a positive note, I'm quite enjoying RY X.

I've bought tickets on both occasions, 1.) when the first wave of acts was announced, 2.) When the whole lineup was announced.

The total difference in cost was quite significant. On both occasions I was mid-travelling around Europe, so I can't really comment on travel costs if you're flying in from another country. Obviously the later ticket purchase cost a lot more than super early bird. Accommodation was hard to come by and cost way more than previously.

I think in total I had to part with an extra €200/€300 due to the later booking (and that's without air travel). That's enough money for people to look in the other direction, and is also why the first announcement is so important.

I think you're all right. I've seen a lot of bands in my life, most of them at Sziget during the years, I'm ok with the experience thing. Still, part of the experience Is listening to good music other than camping and taking part to various Activity. If the festival Is able to reduce cost of booking acts, maybe can also afford to have less people to the festival. Bands are super expensive right now, One man show Is less expensive for sure. About food and beverage, prices skyrocket in last few years. I don't think they're going to suffer if less people buy, I'm worried they'll.keep increasing them (Hope not). I struggled last year with food and drink prices, I bought more at Auchan and In Budapest Center, at least this Is allowed ahaha.

I think we all fell into the Sziget experience trap. I remember a poster here said the same thing, I disagreed with him enthusiastically.

Now that's what the organisers want us to believe. All about the experience and Bydapest, whilst delivering sub par lineups.

I can't think any other festival near a tourist city, that use it as much as Sziget.

Tbh many fans said the same thing. "You go to Sziget for experience not lineup". Maybe even you 😄

Damiano David going on World Tour from September. I'm thinking in this guy from Tale of us can all of the sudden be a headliner after going solo wouldn't be surprised if same happens here. Imo his first singles are better quality than Maneskin post Eurovision work.
