Tipi secret sets through time - a definitive list?

As I get super duper excited for this year's EOTR, I've been poring back through old clashfinders, photos, notebooks, blah, looking at my 11 previous End of the Roads - and I was wondering, since I didn't necessarily keep timely notes, if there exists anywhere a definitive list of tipi secret sets? Would love to see one, see if it jogs my memory!

Here's what I've pieced together, incomplete:

2011

Thursday: Junip, Herman Dune

Saturday: James Yorkston, Bob Log III

Sunday: Slow Down Molasses

2012

Thursday: Big Wave, Abi Wade, Olympians, Futureheads (a capella set)

Friday: Horse Thief, Cashier No.9

Saturday: Jeffrey Lewis, Deep Dark Woods, Deer Tick

Sunday: Justin Townes Earl, Snake Wagon, Hurray For the Riff Raff

2013

Thursday: Evans the Death, Tigercats, Catfish & the Bottlemen, Annie Eve, Deap Vally

Friday: King Khan & The Shrines

Saturday: Fossil Collective, Joe Gideon

Sunday: Barr Brothers, Crocodiles, Caitlin Rose

2014

Thursday: Speak Galactic, AK/DK, Ezra Furman, Cheetahs

Friday: Arc Iris, The Barr Brothers, The Wave Pictures

Saturday: David Thomas Broughton, St Paul & The Broken Bones, Hookworms

Sunday: Kiran Leonard, Stealing Sheep

2015

Friday: Fumaca Preta

Sunday: Hinds, Wand

2016

Friday: Mothers, Big Thief

Saturday: Ezra Furman?

Sunday: Pinegrove, Flamingods

2017

Sunday: Rolling Blackouts, Waxahatchee, King Khan

2018

Friday: Warmduscher, Lucy Dacus and Julien Baker

Saturday: Duds, Shannon & The Clams

Sunday: AK/DK and Snapped Ankles,  Amyl & The Sniffers

2019

Friday: The Beths, Scalping

Saturday: Goat Girl, Hard Skin

Sunday: Squid, Viagra Boys, BCUC

2021

Friday: Bo Ningen

Saturday: Chubby & The Gang, Giant Swan

Sunday: Black Country New Road, Horsey

2022

Friday: BEAK, Mandy Indiana

Saturday: Alabaster de Plume, Katherine Priddy

Sunday: Ural Thomas & The Pain, The Bug Club

...So that's a fair old chunk - anymore for anymore? All and any expansions, clarifications and corrections gladly welcomed! I'm sure I was at a handful I just never wrote down!!!

Should add for those who don't know that Thursdays were entirely secret for the first few years until Woods was opened up on that day. Mark Lanegan and Isobel Campbell played one year IIRC. (Catfish & the Bottlemen. Christ.)

Mark Lanegan and Isobel Campbell? Wow ....

Did a little bit of research using the forum search:

2015
Friday: Meilyr Jones, Fumaca Preta
Saturday: Ex Hex, Fat White Family (cut short), Charlie Boyer and the Voyeurs

2016
Friday: Mothers, Big Thief, Weaves
Saturday: Ezra Furman, The Big Moon, Seratones
Sunday: Blind Shakes, Pinegrove, Flamingods

Black Midi in 2018, not sure which day.

I don't have many notes either but a few to add:

2015 Saturday - Ex Hex

2021 Friday - Katy J Pearson (and was joined by some members of Squid for a cover of Lazy)

2023 Sunday - Hotwax and Personal Trainer

Also whilst Mothers and Big Thief did play in 2016 they were scheduled acts (not secret sets). I think that Hookworms didn't end up playing the secret set in 2014 (but were meant to).

2008 - first year I went. (British) Sea Power played a cover set (I didn't remember but the internet tells me it was Jonathan Richman songs). There was a band who appeared to be playing every stage at the festival at some point. Looking at the lineup I'm going to guess Young Republic.

I think Low Anthem were a bit of a house band whenever they played.

As a side note, still gutted to have missed that AK/DK and Snapped Ankles set in 2018. There was a really big queue.

Admiral Fallow played the Thursday in 2011.

Brilliant, thanks!

That was our first year. We hooned it up from Cornwall after work, managed to get pitched before dark, went for out first explore. Sat outside the tipi eating homemade pasties, never for a second thought to investigate the music coming from 5ft away ... thought they were just testing the rig 😄. How dense were we?

Brilliant, thanks so much! I was zzzing away during Katy J, a bit gutted about that.

Yeah, I know I've caught some late-night 'scheduled' tipi acts in the net, didn't quite mark that subtle change from 3 to 2 secret sets per night.

Oh yes - The Low Anthem played a secret set in 2012 including a few jokey songs, can't remember which day.

2012, Alabama Shakes and Low Anthem combined as Snake Wagon on the Sunday, in fancy dress (it says here? But memory is fallible ...) 🙂

Don't wish to sound pedantic but it wasn't actually Sea Power - it was a 'supergroup' with members of Sea Power, Brakes and another band I can't remember. They called themselves The Modern Ovens IIRC.

Talking of which, Brakes played a couple of secret sets - possibly 2007 (when the Tipi stage really was a Tipi) and 2010? God I miss that band!

Ah yes, similar memory issues - I only really remember the Low Anthem part because they trialled the "special" material at a show the week before.  Costumes seems about right, the only thing I really remember was a Spongebob Squarepants inspired song called Run Plankton Run.....

I’m 90% sure that Starcrawler followed by Alex Cameron were the secret sets on the Saturday for 2017

Which is an admirable amount of detail, that song title! I can only remember that they all seemed exactly on the same level as the audience - ie, absolutely hammered 😅
