Green Day was quite the get, mind, given it was literally 2 days after I saw them at a sold out Old Trafford in Manchester (atrocious traffic management on the way out or otherwise)

Anyone who went to that tour some 24 years on must see that as extraordinary value for money, not least given Muse & Coldplay have spent years playing venues that charge £8 a drink.

I was at the Wolves Civic gig, was the last gig at the Civic at the time, they knocked out the sides and added extra bars afterwards only took a few months unlike the recent works that took like 5 years plus 

 

Still have my ticket as well. Coldplay released yellow about 2 months later and blew up. 

 

Muse toured so much back then, think I saw them without travelling very far about 5 times in a 2 years span.

This got me curious to count. setlist.fm says that between 1999 and 2001, they played over 400 concerts. So, yeah, that was a lot of concerts in quick succession.

Victorious could still book Pulp and Kings of Leon btw, it would just mean the undercard would suffer. 

 

The year that Prodigy played, the undercard that day was noticeably weaker. 

 

Friendly Fires sub and Sleaford Mods 3rd down. 

 

Saturday had a top 3 of Weller, Brian Wilson and The Cribs, I doubt Weller and Wilson came cheap. 

 

I could see it being Madness Friday, Pulp Saturday, Kings of Leon Sunday. 

 

That would be financially doable imo.

There always seems to be a ‘dancey’ headliner so can’t see 3 x guitar bands (if you can call madness that) playing.

Yeah, it's the KOL booking that's thrown me as before that I thought there was a good chance of Pulp but as has been said maybe they are not as expensive as we thought.

 

That would be quiet a due KOL & Pulp, would not really care who the third would be.

Castle stage will likely have the pop/dance headliners if the Common has Madness/Pulp/Kings of Leon

There's precedent for acts to only do one festival, but still not be advertised as an exclusive. Several former Glastonbury headliners fall into that category.

It’s insane isn’t it. Where Muse was to where they are now it’s insane. Releasing showbiz back in 1999, Origin of Symmetry in 2001 and that getting to No2 in the UK Charts and every album studio album since being No1. Headlining Reading and Glastonbury 3 times each. Being the first band to sell out Wembley Stadium being in 2007. They had such a quick rise to fame along with Coldplay. Iv seen Muse a lot in my life but I’m still quite young so when I’m talking to people about Muse and they know who I’m talking about it’s almost a surprise to me because I’m so used to people my age not knowing them. I always get told like between 2006-2013 they were so well known everywhere. What I would give to have experienced that

Nothing But Thieves have always denied the allegations against them, and to my knowledge, there's no firm evidence of them doing anything illegal. That said, there is a lot of testimony, from a lot of different people, about them being very into teenage girls, typically in the 16/17 range. They've had gigs cancelled and their support acts have left their tours before over it.

 

You can browse some testimony, including screenshots of DMs the band have sent to young girls, in this Twitter thread for yourself and make your own mind up. But it was definitely more than just one person looking for a payday. How would such a person even get paid in this scenario? There's no money in it, the only reward you get is abuse from fans who don't want to consider the possibility that a band they have a parasocial relationship with might be less than perfect.

 

It has blown over, mostly because the industry isn't interested in dealing with the power dynamics between bands and young fans, because many people don't see any problem with that dynamic as long as the girl is 16, and because NBT probably aren't quite famous enough to be turned into bait for prolonged tabloid fury. If they worked for e.g the BBC, they'd have been mauled and it never would have died down.

Lytham and Cardiff confirmed already this morning. Both of these are late June/early July as a note so dunno if that's a factor.

Last year, the 'Praise You' sign post was on 28th November with the full lineup dropping on 5th December.
