the hell are they upset about 😭

"I've not heard any of these bands" "There's a lack of diversity" "Desperately want my money back this is awful. They tipped out a charity bag of old CDs and said yep that’s the line up!" "Dissapointing!" "Where is all the good music?" "What happened to Prodigy" " The only decent band on that is Madness" "Where are all the famous acts?" "Absolute rubbish I wish I hadn't bothered now" "When are they announcing headliners?" "Who are the bands on Friday and Saturday night? Surely nobody has heard of them"

You could book objectively the greatest lineup of all time and it'd get the same response

Oh, totally! Just makes me laugh though because I think that these are the guys that would only be happy if the whole lineup was just Rhythm of the 90s.

It does mean that a lot of the grumpy buggers aren't going to be there as well, which makes me even happier hahaha

What's the crowd demographics like? Did Boardmasters last year, never again! Was like a yr 11 disco, full of 16 yr olds necking neat vodka smuggled in in their bra and having to be pulled out of the crowd!

I think you'll be fine at Victorious to be honest - it's not an older crowd per se but certainly not overrun by 16 / 17 year olds. Also feels like there's less people completely off their face as the site closes after the headliners and camping is offsite, meaning people can't just stumble back to their tent.

So there’s two stages at this? I.e Madness will clash with QOTSA? (Never thought they’d be on a line-up together!)

There's a few actually. You have the common stage aka the big one, then castle stage. There's also the seaside stage, the big top where comedy is, and the beats and swing. There's also acoustic (which isn't really acoustic). Then there's like under the trees, the casemates stage, the skatepark which has DJs... lots of bits dotted around. Henry's House which over 18s and more a dance party in southsea castle... am I missing anything? D-Day museum is open too!

Most of the teens stay by the waltzers or go into the D-Day car park.

Pretty tempted by this line-up, especially Friday. How difficult is it getting back to London after the headliners? Do they put on extra trains or coaches?

There's usually a Big Green Coach, and although it's a bit of a trot, Fratton and Portsmouth & Southsea station have trains running fairly regularly until 1am ish.,

Last trains out of Portsmouth are surprisingly early (11pm ish I think), but I'm not sure if they put on extras during the fest.

(I have the same problem the other way when I go to gigs in London. I'm sure I used to be able to get a train in the early hours a few years ago but now I have to stay over, leave early and/or leg it to Waterloo for the last train.)

Yeah seems so from the SW rail website, but I wondered if they might put on some extras. Big Green Bus probably an option if not.

The thing is, I don't think much is actually out of the question now is it? The Strokes would be awesome. I missed them at APE last year cause I was at Victorious. Missed Death Cab/Postal Service this year cause I was at Victorious....hopefully I won't miss Wolf Alice 😆

Certainly makes me positive for future years. I hope it sells well for them but not to well that it feels rammed.

There have not been trains back to London after 11pm in previous years. Coach will be your only option after headliners as the site is also pretty far (25 mins brisk walk) at the best of times.

Reminder: Accomodation at the Uni halls (around £70-100 per night) usually goes on sale first Monday in Jan (so around the 6th in 2025)

I get that. The last 2 years the festival has felt good and you can always find quiet areas if you need a break from the hoard. Maybe the site extension has helped with that? I remember 2019 and 2021 (maybe 22?) it was so rammed, almost like they sold too many tickets and buying food and drink was a nightmare. It was really hot too so that probably didn't help feeling agitated and tired.

They've really upped their game on all fronts recently. Well done to the Victorious team.

Just seen The Pill (Isle of Wight duo who are like a cross between Wet Leg and Panic Shack with extra shouting) are playing the main stage on Saturday. I guess they’ll open it.

Also on a different note I hope QOTSA don’t suffer the same fate as when they played Glastonbury last time then by all accounts their crowd was pretty small (they were up against some big acts on other stages though).

QOTSA were up against Elton’s ‘last Uk gig’ at glasto. This time they will be up against madness (hopefully, as I would like to see kiwinuka and QOTSA).  No contest.
