Madness have headlined 2nd on a few occasions

I would imagine that would be rammed if they are against QOTSA.

I love QOTSA but would imagine there may be a lot of people who don't know them but would be able to real off a dozen Madness songs. It would be madness to put them on the second stage against QOTSA, I would guess Kiwinuka but some times festivals do get scheduling wrong.

It will be interesting to see whre those on the second line end up.

I get frustrated by anyone who says "I don't really know those bands" or "what songs have QOTSA had hits with"? I've seen a lot of these comments and am bemused because with Spotify, youtube and Apple music (and many more formats) available and speakers where you can literally say "play *******", how bone idle do you have to be to not just give any band you don't know, a listen?

If you KNOW a band and don't like them that's different

Plus anyone saying that the line up is full of "old bands" - have they never been to victorious before? The fact that these bands are generally form the early to mid 2000s actually makes them a decade more recent than most Victorious headliners.

Some people are so hard to please.

I think what some people mean is too many ‘old bands’ and not enough ‘new pop’. I would tend to agree on this line up compared to previous. We are going to struggle to find anything on the lineup for an 11 year old girl to enjoy. Which is a shame.

previous years including Jess Glynn and Katie hill, sigrid, Dylan, even CMAT.

This years line up is not really family orientated at all, which is a strange move given the festival has a big focus on attracting families with the kids etc.

regardless of if you think the headliners are a good choice or not, the undercard doesn’t have any (or many) big mainstream names like in the past years with Sigrid, Jess Glynne , Becky Hill etc as mentioned above.

If you're going to try, I'd suggest Caity Baser for new cheesy pop, and The Last Dinner Party for something slightly "cool", currently very popular.

There's some credible girl-fronted groups with a rockier edge too - Sprints and HotWax for example. I don't envy you having to try and decipher what works for an 11 year old though! Last year Sugababes were part of the 2nd wave announcement, so you might get something there?

I agree with all your recommendations but guitar bands are just not cool to your average 11 year old.

funnily enough, I think last dinner party and (currently tween favourite) Chappel Roan sound incredibly similar and same themes.  However, pretty much because one is a guitar band, it’s difficult to convince tweens to get into them.

If she likes Brat then she probably already knows Caity Baser. Great fun for all the family but can be a little rude live. She will probably the highlight of the weekend for some people.

I expect there will be more added nearer the time- there is usually a 2nd announcement in the Spring with extra names
