It was sold out wasn't it? And one of the highest grossing merch nights at Wembley ever

Was it? I kept getting promos until pretty much the day of telling me tickets were available!

Great if they did sell the joint out though, excellent stuff.

No complaints there whatsoever. Cracking line up (for me) for a day fest!

19 year old me would be loving this. Shame I’m 36 now and thought All Points East was naff when I went.

Hope it's Bombay then Maccabees, would be nice to have a year where not having to do that mad rush from one stage to another for the headliner. And woohoo to The Cribs, Murder Capital and Divorce combo!

A great lineup, I would argue the undercard and Bombay would make a cracking day if you wanted an early night and beat the end of night rush.

Shame it clashes with Victorious, however pleased to see that Bombay, Cribs, Murder Capital & Prima Queen are doing festivals next year and will hopefully wash up at some where I go.

Judging by Bombays post I’m not sure they will barring that show

I must admit, I've not got down to APE yet, but two things appear consistent.

1) There are always some cracking lineups.

2) Everybody I know who does go says it is crap due to the clientele of the crowd.

What's wrong with the clientele?

My wife went with her mate and didn't enjoy it (too crowded was her view) but what's the issue with the clinetele?

Most of my friends are pretty seasoned festivalgoers, but they say even among big one-day London events, the people generally at APE seem to be of the coked-up chatter variety - the type that are there to have a good natter during the quiet bits and then boorishly holler for the hits when they're not delivered at a regular clip.

Again, I cannot pass judgement myself - I've never been. But it's what I've heard second-hand - more of a crowd there for the cred than the music itself.

Sound is the most common complaint to be honest - it had improved this year though

I'd agree with that. I would never pay full price for APE, but for free to £10ish I can just about put up with it. Earlier acts tend to be free from such problems as the coked up and over-entitled seem to arrive later.

I actually really enjoyed the Postal Service/Death Cab day as it largely seemed free of such cretins. Perhaps it was too obscure for the freeloaders and the Insta story uploaders.

There is nothing particularly special about the crowds at APE. Typical for London - and to some degree typical of UK festival shows, just more urban/less family oriented. The main difference is that APE is rather souless. I actually find crowds at Primavera Barcelona and other Spanish festival much more talkative - perhaps because APE has day events and most people close to the front on the big stages are actually interested in the band's playing - again with a few expections typical of London crowds and large venues.

I am not sure I like this new model of having a "US-indie day" (Death Cab last year), "UK-indie day", etc. Just slightly odd because I don't really identify with a particular geographical location.

They book days with a theme around the headliner - like all other day festivals

Given its over 2 weekends its hard to expect (and very restrictive) to book a lineup everyone will want to buy weekend tickets for (hence they don't sell them)

Similar to BST etc

Not all day festivals are like that. APE used to be a bit more like Rock en Seine or Primavera, where you can also buy day tickets, and each days is quite varied.

Now APE is more similar to BST and theme-centred day events. That's fine, but usually that pattern is when you have one strong headliner, so I'm just a bit surprised, that's all.
