I live in hope, especially given his connections with Pulp AND John Grant. Maybe they'll all just get on stage together and have a big ol' jam session

Franz Ferdinand are one of my favourite bands from when I was a teenager and I still have a soft spot for them, and to see them sub the Reytons here but, judging by the placement on the bill, have a higher position than them at Truck is weird.

I think they are one of those acts that are just not popular on efestivals but are popular with lots of indie fans especially up north.

I think spiritualized, John Grant, fat whites is surprisingly mainstream given what Pulp must have cost. And it looks like there's another similar act "TBA". Who would you have in mind, just out of interest? I'm going to try for a Friday ticket.

 

The Saturday has some "name recognition" but they aren't acts you'd be too bothered about watching eg rizzle kicks, future heads. Ps I have absolutely no clue who the Reytons are, I personally think Franz ferdinand should have chucked it but surely they're "bigger" than Reytons!

Listened to a few of the Pulp undercard on Spotify as not heard of any of them apart from Spirtualized and I Monster.  Musically all pretty niche and undoubtedly all very adept but interesting how will transfer across to a Tramlines main Stage.   Worry is people will hold off turning up until early evening.

 

Wonder if the Special Guest on the Friday will be Richard Hawley or Self Esteem and have the local connection.

Same as my guesses / hopes. And Jarvis is saying 'a very special guest' on his Insta, which now gives me more hope.

 

Oracle Sisters were the Pulp support in Scarborough, competent enough, but not memorable. Hawley has also had support recently from a French singer, so I reckon there's probably some connection via Jarvis. 

 

Friday at Tramlines is often quiet until after work times, so the special guest will be doing heavy lifting to get people in early. If it is either of the above, I could see them going on with Pulp for a couple of numbers too. Apparently Pulp have being playing the co-written 'A Sunset' a few more times recently, which was first played at Hawley's Leadmill gig, with Jarvis as special guest, and is a tribute to Sheffield.

Thought I was done with Tramlines after the washout of 2023 but they've pulled me back in, 8 of us trying for weekend tickets and accommodation  is booked.

Wunderhorse announced for Deershed on the Friday night. I'm hoping that the reason that they've been left of this first announcement is because they'll be added onto this later once Deershed have sold some of their tickets. Surely North Yorkshire > South Yorkshire > Oxford is a decent enough touring pattern? That Saturday could do with a bigger name or two but I'm worried they'll cop out with Rizzle Kicks and Natasha Bedingfield

Wondering if RK will be T'Other headline. NB will probably be mid afternoon on main stage. With Wunderhorse already on the Truck poster would have expected them to be on Tramlines already if they are booked. Might be more suited to Y Not?

Looking at last year's first announcement, 3rd and/or 4th acts were on T'Other. This is however s much smaller first announcement than last year, probably as it's 2 months earlier.

Yeah you're possibly right about them doing the other festivals. I just feel like the Saturday here in particular is lacking a bit, but based on what they first announced last year and this year I feel that maybe they feel they've got the rest of the days sewn up already? I think it will sell very well so they might not feel that they need much else adding other than the smaller names.

 

I did think though that this seems smaller than usual so perhaps they've got a couple of bigger names to come in the second announcement. Either way I'm aiming for a weekend, already enough to justify the cost if the cheaper tickets can be grabbed

To give you an idea, first announcement last year was 50+ acts, this year is 30+, so loads more to come.

43 acts have been announced.  Last year there were 56 music acts across the 3 stages.

Well done for counting them!

 

The most notable thing is that the Saturday probably has it's full roster already. Fri/Sun are where the gaps are right now.

I'm sad - I had a spreadsheet to plan who I was seeing !!

TBF, this is sort of thing I will do once I have a few different events booked in for next year, so I can maximise who I see across the various dates.

Maybe I'm wrong, but can't see the place being that empty in the day on the Friday. Spiritualized, John Grant and Baxter Dury all fill sizeable venues given their daytime slots at this mid sized festival. Plus, as it's curated by the headliner,  tastes between the crowd and the band generally overlap a good amount. Anyway, I'd much rather be at them than spending my money watching Natasha Beddingfield and Rizzle Kicks that's for sure...

Hoping Rizzle Kicks are headlining Other Stage as need a reason to stay at the festival with The Reytons being on.

 

Plus I know their set would be mega fun

I'm happy we have a day that looks more like something you'd see at All Points East, but I also think Rizzle Kicks are going to be good fun

I honestly think it will be packed on Friday, with people getting in early to get a good spot for Pulp, and a good proportion will enjoy the support acts. 

 

One thing that has often been a bit odd with Tramlines is that they seem to target different audiences across the 3 days, which can feel a bit disjointed across the whole weekend, but works well for the day trippers. This was really noticeable last year, and the Saturday was out of step, and less well attended. I feel there may be an element of that again this year, albeit 3 very popular acts in their own way, and almost everyone wants to see Pulp!

Agreed, it's great to have something a bit more out of the ordinary - almost takes me back to early Tramlines when DiS used to curate the Barker's Pool stage.
