NorthernSoul52
Expected, though perhaps not utterly horrendous.

And it looks like there's another similar act "TBA". Who would you have in mind, just out of interest? I'm going to try for a Friday ticket. The Saturday has some "name recognition" but they aren't acts you'd be too bothered about watching eg rizzle kicks, future heads. Ps I have absolutely no clue who the Reytons are, I personally think Franz ferdinand should have chucked it but surely they're "bigger" than Reytons! I personally doubt the much of the usual Tramlines crowd has ever heard of John Grant or Fat White Family, and will maybe recognise Spiritualized. Think it's less likely people will take a half day for bands they don't know, or pay £8 a pint when they can stay in one of the pubs in Hillsborough. No doubt it will be getting busy after 6, but i just don't see it beforehand unless the Special Guests knock it out.

Also, not everyone is after getting bladdered. Edited November 27, 2024 by sheffinghell
scatteredscreens
I'd be perfectly ok with a quieter site for acts such as Spiritualized. I'm a big fan but honestly they're not a great festival band these days.

Also I think they'll have quite a bit of a nostalgia pull from Sheffielders. Getting food will be the biggest nightmare, based upon last year. What I'm really hoping is that they allow Pulp a full 2 hours, like they did for Paolo Nutini last year.

I listen to a lot of music and go to a lot of Gigs and I have never heard of John Grant or Baxter Dury but will certainly get up to speed before July. My Son is into Fat White Family so aware of them.

I mean, it'd be dumbf**kery of the highest order to make the biggest booking in festival history, hometown heroes coming towards the end of their run, and then cut their time.. Agreed, but the usual headline slot is 90 mins. PN really did not need 2 hours either!
NorthernSoul52
If Pulp have been allowed to curate, then I reckon they'll get longer than normal. Maybe 105 minutes or so.
ciderbus
I haven’t been to a Tramlines since they started charging so no sense of what the crowd/event is like now other than a few reports off friends. The Friday this time for me has me sorely tempted to reverse that. Really strong lineup for my tastes. Edited November 27, 2024 by ciderbus Missed a word out! The Friday this time for me has me sorely tempted to reverse that. Really strong lineup for my tastes. It's really a different festival these days, hence the size of some of the bookings. The site holds 40k people and is large - there's a good bit of trekking if you want to go between main stage and T'Other, but it's very easy to see most of the Leadmill stage and the mainstage. Beer and food prices are a bit steep, but not as bad as some more southerly festivals I've been to. They still try to put on a fair bit of new music, and there's comedy, etc. They seem to be making a bit more effort with local traders, and had a good craft beer tent last year from the likes of Abbeydale and Thornbridge. Main downsides - not enough places to sit down, and you can't go in and out of the site as you please.

incident
I got Tier 1 Friday tickets for my group. No shock that Friday went pretty much straight to Tier 3 and the other days still on Tier 1.
