There's no real 'star' power, but having looked at this properly and counted everything there's 31 acts I would watch on there, loads of which I haven't seen before.

Got mates in Madrid so if I can source cheap flights and stay with them this could be a very feasible weekend if the tickets are value for money

If Alanis, 30 stm , Weezer and Kaiser are all in the same day i might consider going.

are Kaiser still playing the 1st album in full this year?

Yeah that’s their tour next year

Pretty decent I reckon. Only a first release but I already think it's better than last year's final poster.

Hoping for: LCD, Wet Leg, Parcels, Fontaines, Muse, Simple Minds, Underworld, Vampire Weekend, Caribou, Confidence Man

Werchter definitely has the strongest line up this year so I’m definitely drawn to it.

this announcement for mad cool was underwhelming for me as I was expecting something big.

seems like there’s just not much available on the circuit this year

With Green Day, Muse and Linking Park out there, you cant say "there’s just not much available on the circuit this year"

LCD, Wet Leg and Fontaines all but impossible with them playing Primavera sadly, think Caribou might be too. Vampire Weekend seem to be around the other end of the Summer sadly but the others could be added

Decent lineup that. Anybody been before that can answer some questions for a newbie. Will this sell out quickly, and anywhere nearby to stay if my partner doesn't what to camp?

I’m not sure you can camp at Mad Cool can you?!  Most treat it as a holiday too and stay in hotels/air bnb

There is no camping in the festival and I am 99,99% sure tickets won't sell out at all.

Also don't stay nearby, there is usually a free bus/metro/train back to the centre of Madrid (Atocha station), so anything close to Atocha, or you could just get back to Atocha and grab a taxi then to your hotel from there (not from the taxi stop at the venue, way longer waiting times and more expensive).

And I recommend you start looking and book the hotel as soon as you can since it will be way cheaper now. Most have a free cancellation policy till a few days before the date, so you've got nothing to lose if you do that.

This is one of those where if I lived closer in Spain it's probably worth checking out as can't beat the value but not from the UK. I went madrid for. Week early October and it was super hot then, middle of July no thanks.

It isn't too bad at night for the headliners, but for some of the acts earlier on it's too hot. Wolf Alice in 2022 might be the hottest I've ever felt in my life 😂

Pretty sure there was no camping there when I went in 2018. I haven't been since the move across the city but feel like people would've said if they'd camped there last year.

I admit that for all I was incredibly jealous of 2022's attendees getting a line-up that was very much to my tastes that knowing I wasn't going to be in 35 degree heat before the sun went down helped.

No it's in the day. I've had a couple of moments, Glastonbury 23 I rested through RB for Arctics as the heat just took it's toll and i was working that year realising how much it takes it's out of you being there a week earlier and doing your shifts. Obviously getting earlies was the great full part. 2010 was difficult at moments. Strangely, I never really had heat issues watching bands at Coachella when I went and that's wall to wall dessert heat.

That feels like it's going to rule out Linkin Park then given they'd only have been available for the 13th.

I think Linkin Park were out for a while. If the festival had them I can't see them having not announced them for sales.
