Possibly not the right place to ask but it's a start.  I've been a regular Green Man goer for several years but we failed to get tickets this year.  A few people have suggested End of the Road as a good alternative.  Any thoughts or views?

It is significantly better than Green Man. Can't believe they get compared, to be honest. Not only is the line-up constantly better and more interesting, but it is smaller, more contained, prettier, easier to get around and generally feels more personal. There are so many lovely little details at EOTR that Green Man simply doesn't have. Also the weather is always better!

The other main difference you'll probably notice is that there are fewer families / kids, with it being closer to the schools going back.

😂😂😂😭😭😭🤣🤣🤣

Jeez. Really? It never feels like "fewer... Kids".

I dread to think what more kids than EOTR would look like

Mrs KYTV and I both think there's less school age children at EOTR than we remember from our first festivals in 2011- with our pre-teen boys were more into the circus and clay than the music.

Children have never bothered us as as much as middle-aged chatterers.

I saw Wunderhorse in Bristol on Saturday and I really enjoyed them. They had 3 basic styles of songs - pop tunes with a rocky edge, grunge, and a couple of slower Americana songs - all very good and all would fit the EOTR vibe very well. They could definitely carry off a Garden stage headliner or Woods stage sub-headliner slot, perhaps even a Woods headliner by next September.

They're clearly going places. It's the first time I've seen queues up the street outside the O2 Academy. However, I was one of only a handful of fifty-somethings in the building, it was 99% teenagers. This is very encouraging from a "future of guitar-based rock" perspective, but I think it probably leads their management to prioritise a Truck or Boardmasters festival over EOTR.

They were supposed to play last year but pulled out late doors

Having experienced my first Green Man this year and my first EOTR the year before, I think that's pretty unfair. My Green Man probably edged my EOTR but really, it's a bit of a non argument. Both are spectacularly magnificent, gorgeous sites, sound crowds, amazing, innovative music as far as the eye can see...I feel they're both on the side of the angels, not in competition. I won't hear a word against either.

I mentioned back at the start that Les Savy Fav are playing Canela Party, but in the Pukkelpop topic someone says they're being offered as an agency package to European festivals with The Get Up Kids, who unlike LSF don't feel very EOTR-like.

They don't

They'd be great though. More mid west emo at EOTR imo. Get Spanish Love Songs in too

Never been to Green Man, but creativity is not a competition. We're blessed to have both in the UK
