My brother in law who introduced me to Glastonbury and went religiously has moved to taking breaks and going more intermittently, and it's definitely reignited his enjoyment of it.

FWIW I think that when it becomes such a big thing in anyone's calendar and is the focal point for the year, it makes it much harder (a) when you miss out (not to highlight the year you missed out on tix or anything...😉) and (b) as it puts pressure on you to wring as much joy out of it as possible otherwise you feel like it's wasted opportunity.  Maybe one of the only things you can come away from with massive FOMO despite having been there!

Layer in the physical effort, comedowns for various chemical and/or emotional reasons, and it can all get a bit much!

Someone I know who's been going since 1997 has started doing this the last decade or so, he tends to do one on one off, rinse and repeat,  throw in a fallow year in-between it all it means he still keeps the interest going without just religiously going every year.

He was actually suggesting to me that I try doing the same when I met up with him at this years festival.

The problem with going intermittently is the uncertainty of the ticket sale. Deliberately missing a year and fail the following year, then it’s a fallow and you could miss three or more years!

True, but once you break the cycle of having to go every year, the prospect of missing through ticket failure becomes less awful. It's a self-perpetuating obligation!

Any indication yet of announcement? Surely must be soon! How much notice do we normally get? Still trying to decide whether to go for actual tickets or volunteer again ( with Oxfam priority). Probably will try and then decide later if successful. Pros and cons of both options but nice to have that dilemma.

I want to go next year, and will then take stock of where I'm at for 2026 when it eventually rolls around.

Life might be a fair bit different by then anyway!

Exactly this, missed out last year and was devastated, went somewhere else and loved it and now actually not even trying this year.

I get it’s a massive part of some peoples lives but don’t get yourself down about it either, there’s a lot out there

I should probably caveat this all by saying that while I've had years where I've chosen not to go, I've never actually missed out when I've tried for tickets.  So I reserve the right to ignore everything I've said previously and be an inconsolable mess if I miss out this year 😂

Apologies if it's already been discussed but are we looking at the first Thursday and Sunday in November now?

OK scratch that.

I don't think it will be the 10th as that is Remembrance Sunday. More likely the 14th for coaches and the 17th for general sale. *Disclaimer - I have no inside information and the above is purely a guess going on previous years.

This I reckon.

Unusual for it to be delayed. Hope it's nowt to do with ME's health. Didn't they do a Nov one year before in the last 10 years?

The only November sales have been the last 2.

November 2022 because the Tories crashed the economy just as they were finalising their planning, and so they took an extra month to redo their sums.

November 2023 presumably because that's what it was the previous year - originally planned for the first weekend of the month, but then pushed back to the 3rd weekend because of the registration kerfuffle.
