The problem with going intermittently is the uncertainty of the ticket sale. Deliberately missing a year and fail the following year, then it’s a fallow and you could miss three or more years! 

Also means severe FOMO if you had been waiting for say Elton John for years and then he plays the year you take off.

 

I guess there is the resale but thats a risk!
