Steve G
I can see The Cure doing Lytham now or an intimate gig at the ballroom. Think Lytham is a strong possibility right now though

I dunno just have that gut feeling and felt like I had a gut feeling before NME posted the "Cryptic Message". It's a festival who go for older acts and look ambitious. Sparticus
The Cure would be a huge get, but given it's their own show, expect a lot of deep cuts. They don't overly pander to festival crowds. It comes down to if it's part of a bigger tour. They've done Hyde Park before, but that was either a UK or European exclusive show. Stereophonics can definitely be in contention since they are lined up for IOW.

I can see it relating to a short series of gigs around album release

I can see it relating to a short series of gigs around album release I dont think so. There have been teasers all around the world which doesn't point to a short series of gigs. The Blackpool thing is a look to the past / reflection and not pointing to any live gig imo. Robert was born in Blackpool and then moved to Crawley, where there has already been a teaser. I get that. speculation on a lot of fan sites is around the cities the teasers are appearing in being gig locations. others see it other ways so far I think the campaign is pretty well put together. Similar to how Def Lepard/Mötley Crue did it. Edited September 19 by Steve G

At a 25k venue i don't think the first part would matter a whole lot, it would sell anyway. ---------- Biggest thing to look at is whether they tour AEG or LN - no idea if this is confirmed yet. Lytham is LN i think?

bingobear
Timberlake would be a guess as he's predicted for IOW as that's also announcing Monday
scatteredscreens
Stereophonics I assume for all the fests announcing at the same time Monday. So Lytham, Latitude, IoW and potentially Piece Hall Edited September 20 by scatteredscreens 1

Sparticus
Are we discounting Stereophonics? Feel if they were getting announced it would have been today. Still hanging onto hope that we're getting a big guitar act. Sam Fender would be great but probably too big given he headlined Reading and Leeds recently.
