Live at the Piece Hall 2025

Recommended Posts

I know, I know - The Piece Hall's season of music isn't really a festival, so to speak.

But quite a few of its shows tend to figure as warm-ups for slots at other multi-day jamborees or factor as part of a festival run, so going to bite the bullet and start a thread on it.

First announcement apparently hits at 10 a.m. tomorrow. They had some very strong names last year, including Gunnersbury Park headliners PJ Harvey and Korn, and Victorious Festival headliner Biffy Clyro.

Have to keep reminding myself they put on 30 odd gigs last year, and a handful were pretty solid

My parents went on holiday in Yorkshire a few months ago and were a little disappointed that the site was restricted due to the gigs. But I don't think until looking into it to see the scale just how many gigs they hold at the Halifax Piece Hall.

Didn't used to be the case. It seriously went off the charts ever since Futuresound - local promoters - lost the tender to Cuffe and Taylor, backed by Live Nation. You suddenly went from the mix of indie heroes like Father John Misty and local standouts like Embrace, with maybe five a year tops, to it becoming part of a massive summer circuit that includes other C&T venues, generally dominated by arena-apollo-style four-quadrant acts.

Delighted to see so many as it is a local boost to the economy - though bizarrely, they had a last entrance policy of 2000 this year which went down like a lead balloon - but there were indeed probably just a handful that felt like a catch: Crowded House, Air, Korn, PJ Harvey, Biffy Clyro.
