bandsrcool
Line-up speculation - Reckon Father John Misty could be in the running or more likely for End of the Road? See he's touring UK in April if that wouldn't be too soon after for him to nip back. Be keen to know if any has any other theories 😄 Edited October 2 by bandsrcool

Could they play? No chance whatsoever, not only because they headlined more recently than FJM, but their Manchester and London park gigs are bigger capacity than GM on their own. Absolutely, I feel like GM were lucky to hold onto Fontaines even from the 2020 cancellation, let alone how big they are now.

Think their GM slot was their first time headlining a festival - they definitely left Green Man a much bigger deal than when they arrived
AtomsForPizza
I'm not aware of GM's booking policy and whether they've said they won't repeat headliners, but FJM playing in 2019 doesn't seem like it would rule him out for 2025? I guess it's whether he does Glastonbury and other European fests around that time, or comes and does Øya & Green Man etc. in the same way Big Thief did this year. Also - the Horrors have just announced a new album for next year, with a new lineup. If they tour/do fests, can imagine them in Far Out.

I dont think I’ve heard them say they don’t repeat headliners they just don’t do it a lot. They have a good ear/eye for bands on the way up and then I suppose it’s luck if they can grab them again before they get too big! Yes I could see Horrors in Far Out too. Purple aki squat
Mercury rev back touring next year, they would fit in well. Underworld would be good, GM seems to have at least one EDM headliner these days. id love Nick Cave to play there but suspect he’s a bit too expensive. FJM has been there twice already so doubt he’ll be back.

But yeah, I'd say this puts TVOTR well in the frame and that they're capable of headlining though maybe not as the biggest name.

bandsrcool
Was casually googling when High Contrast played Green Man and this came up. Any evidence anywhere else, a ghost in the machine or AI drawing info from a hidden source?

Wonder of theyve got some code or something thats giving away the game or simply just taking info from previous lineups? Can't see Horsey having played before tho 😮 Edited October 8 by bandsrcool

T-Mouse
Current prediction: Mercury Rev Thursday Far Out Headliner Jamie XX Friday Mountain New Order Saturday Mountain Khruangbin Sunday Mountain New Order is a pipe dream really. TV on the Radio, Bonny Light Horseman and The Horrors slotting in somewhere would be wonderful. Also get the Whollopers back for a Mountain Stage slot! bandsrcool
Chances of Yard Act headlining Thursday based off of respective Sleaford Slot at Bearded Theory?

Although I have problems with the 2nd album, and seeing them in Liverpool on that tour was disappointing to say the least, there is true genius in the first album for which reason I am going to take this rumour and pretend it's news.

Sebwax
After never successfully predicting a single Green Man headliner ever, my forecast is: Jamie XX, FKA Twigs, Khruangbin There's a good argument that all three are too big now, especially Twigs, but there was a rumour that she was booked for 2023 and replaced by Self Esteem after cancelling all of her summer festival dates. I wouldn't be surprised if they booked Idles as an easy crowd-pleaser. They haven't played since headlining Far Out. It's also been 10 years since St. Vincent headlined so she may be a solid shout if she's in the UK next summer.

The rumour I and others heard was the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, who came to Europe a week later and it was suggested they cut the first week of their tour off at short notice. Khrungabin are playing Gunnersbury Park, the same as Boygenius and PJ Harvey the last couple of years. If they can sell out their own 25k capacity gig why would they take a festival date the same size?

If they can sell out their own 25k capacity gig why would they take a festival date the same size? I actually didn't hear that one but that would also make sense. FKA Twigs cancelled her festival dates in late February, including Oya the week before GM, so it kinda made sense that it would throw GM into flux just before their announcement. You probably have more of an inside scope than me though. She's been on 6 Music this morning, which was a treat. Regarding Khrungabin, I do agree if they sell it out but I'm pretty sure PJ Harvey didn't. Boygenius played Connect Festival the same year as Gunnnery, which is roughly the same capacity as GM. Khrungabin are also playing Piece Hall in Halifax, which has had GM alumni Michael Kiwanuka, FJM and PJ Harvey before. All I'm saying is they're not a write-off! But also, after 10 GMs, I have never successfully predicted a headliner so I may well have cursed all three of them never to grace Glanusk. They're in the UK that weekend. They've played the festival before but never headlined. They've undoubtedly hit a level of notoriety that would put them in the conversation to headline. The placing of the Halifax date is interesting . They're leaving the UK to play Cologne, then coming back the following weekend to do Halifax on the Sunday. Could suggest they're booked for R+L Friday and Saturday.
