Even there I'd caution that they seem to be rumoured as Pukkelpop Sunday headliners so if that's the case would presumably be flying out on Saturday.

God I think your right. If they're in Belgium Sunday, then that completely ends that dream too. That Germany date in their tour is also a terrible sign.

Edit - Far too bleak to end it like that. It'll be amazing regardless. What will be will be

Sorry. It's really difficult to try and guess this year's headliners, aside from TV On The Radio (who surely can't be around just for a support slot) a lot of plausible candidates have been ruled out by not being around/available at the right time, taking big slots at bigger festivals that would likely put them out of reach, or some other roadblock. Then again, I don't think anyone predicted last year's headliners...

I thought big thief were heavily tipped before the announcement, though my memory isn't very good at all. But no, not much to go on last year. Though it seems there's even less to go on overall for this year! Beth Gibbons could be likely as she's doing festivals this year

Not sure if this totally rules Laura Marling out given the ‘expected shows’ phrasing!

She said herself that these will be her last shows for a year or two, the reason being she'll shortly afterwards be giving birth, as has already been pointed out twice in the last two weeks in this topic.

Big Thief were known to be around, not least as they were supporting PJ Harvey at Gunnersbury Park on the Sunday, but the assumption was they'd honour their cancelled 2020/2021 End Of The Road bookings first.

Beth Gibbons is definitely an option, but the potential pitfall is her live sets so far have been about an hour long, the whole of Lives Outgrown plus a couple of songs apiece from Portishead and the Rustin Man collaborations, and I don't think she would headline Mountain just on that. The direction of idle speculation at the moment is towards Overmono, who might be a bit small for the Mountain headline slot but they're Welsh and I sense the festival would love to show off supporting and elevating Welsh talent (they're from about 25 miles away), maybe also with Kelly Lee Owens subbing. I've also wondered about Wet Leg - filled Far Out first thing on Thursday in 2021, new album pending, lots of European festival slots booked - but being among the first names for Radio 1 Big Weekend might suggest their people are looking at bigger and, after two summers of being under Festival Republic and then Superstruct exclusivity contract, maybe more corporate things for them.

Oh, I didn't mean for her to headline. I saw her last year and whilst a great gig, I wouldn't pit her as headliner. Did definitely want more Out of season in the setlist, mind. Would be well suited subbing the Far out headline one night. Personally would be very disappointed if wet leg were to headline, but that's just preference based on thinking they're more suited to Reading and that ilk of festival.. they definitely give me a 'corporate' vibe.

I'd love to see Nilüfer Yanya sub. All her current dates line up nicely, last year's album was really well received and she had a good crowd in the Walled Garden back in '19.

Justice could be on the table? They're playing some European dates in August and haven't sold out their second Ally Pally show in a couple of weeks.

Justice would be the dream for me, best electronic act currently touring. Size wise I think they’re a perfect fit…

Swap King Krule for something good (Alabama Shakes 🙏), with a dash of English Teacher and maybe CMAT, I'm taking that in a heartbeat.

Evening all.

Just got the email from the festival 'resales open'. Got very excited - but no! Just linking to twickets.

Anyhow.

I'm very keen to get hold of a campervan ticket for my old girl. A '93 T4.

Don't suppose anyone has a spare do they?

Cheers!

Wonder if a headliner or 2 is tucked away in this Lowlands lineup? Sampha and Big Thief both did this in 24.

Also Khruangbin being there all but rules them out of GM25.

Expand

Unfortunately I doubt it - of the only realistic other candidates Vampire Weekend are claimed exclusive to Victorious (and are playing two other European festivals that weekend) while Jamie XX and London Grammar are headlining days of APE's new Lido event.

Pukkelpop are dragging out some big name announcements this week and Paredes de Coura is making single announcements most days.

That Jamie XX date at Lido is in June though - is he a UK exclusive there?

If not surely a perfect fit for the electronic headliner.

what’s the likelihood of an act playing a show in the Netherlands and then coming to Green Man (or vice versa)?

Personally would love Jamie xx, Khurangbin, Deadletter, Murder Capital and Molchat Doma but assuming they’ll all be off the cards?

It's definitely doable, but hinges largely on logistics. If an act plays a set in the day in NL, it's reasonable to assume they could make a headliner appearance in Crickhowell the following day. And vise versa. Sampha did this last year. But if it's the case of a headliner at GM jetting across for an afternoon evening slot in NL the next day, it's probably a MUCH bigger ask logistically.

Jamie XX is also at Cabaret Verd on Thu 14th, so it'll be difficult getting him to Glanusk.

I'd originally thought the APE Lido date was a good omen as Victoria Park events are usually around 20k cap, which is perfect GM territory.

Can't see them playing GM personally, think they'll be at Pukkelpop on the Friday.

They're not playing regardless, they're UK exclusive to Victorious. I was illustrating how acts, no matter how big, play multiple countries across a long weekend. Same principle as...

Why would it be? It's in northern France, not Australia. The more likely reason is he's also playing Lowlands that weekend (and might be under AEG contract restrictions anyway, he currently has no other UK festival dates)
