in the distant  past i know they didn't want to book him because he didn't fit with the festival ethos. i can't see how that has changed but he's a bit  less controversial than he used to be mostly because he's less prominent.

So I actually heard that someone they were preparing to go with pulled out recently. I haven't heard anything about a replacement/Eminem.

 

Though anyone that is looking forward to a BST announcement... Good for you!

The problem is that different things offend different people. 
Id never go to see Clapton, but I know lots would. 
If you ruled artists out because of their misdemeanours you would end up with James Blunt all 3 nights

I don't agree with that. After the fallout Emily had with having all-male headliners, and Emily emphasising how inclusive the festival is, is it right to book a sexist homophobe as the headliner a couple of years later? I really don't think so.

Well I would never book him and if he was booked I wouldn’t go to see him for those reasons. 
To say that the festival needs to draw lines according to your morals or my morals would be wrong. 
The festival and the people attending have changed massively over the years I’ve been going. If it moves to a place that I’m not comfortable with I will stop going rather than insist that the festival changes for me

When pushed about the moral implications of booking certain acts I'm fairly sure Emily has fallen back on a vague 'thats not really our concern' type of statement.

 

The festival itself and can be a well-meaning and ethical enterprise overall without being over-scrupulous on the CVs of every single act that performs.

But I think the issue is it would be against the festival's morals, and booking him would be hypocritical and in direct conflict with their stance on things 🤷
