Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band

Third tour appearances for Does This Bus Stop at 82nd Street? and Santa Claus Is Comin' to Town but also the shortest gig of the tour at just 157 minutes in Ottawa last night.

Otherwise, very much business as usual. Seemed to lack the kind of long-form story-time track that would have pushed it closer to the three-hour mark.

From a post on BTX (Backstreets Ticket Exchange), apparently the changes from the printed/written setlist...

No Surrender was played instead of Seeds
Sunny Day was for Atlantic City
Darkness was added in
Twist and Shout dropped

Ouch. What a downgrade.

Though admittedly that does somewhat compensate.

It's a fine time with the caveat there's at least four-dozen songs I'd rather here.

Conversely, and perhaps because among the lower half of favourites from BITUSA, I'm getting tired of having No Surrender at every show I see. Appreciate its place and value for many, but it can take a rest for me.

Have to agree. Let's have I'm Goin Down instead

Perhaps more a case of election fever spreading those changes, but we've safely settled back into a pattern, it seems. Wednesday night was played with a very straight bat, by the looks of things, and that might well be the rhythm for the rest of the run. Santa Claus is Comin' to Town sticking around as the new encore party cut for the season, but imagine that will be gone by the time Europe III rolls around next year.

Too darn right. I'm Goin' Down is a throwaway party tune and one of the best he's done. I find it fascinating that it's one of his least favourite to play, particularly because it just has such a simple, easy structure to build off, like any great bar band song.

Jungleland is top for my never-seen wishlist, but this one is definitely top five too.

Are you off to both nights again, sire?

Also, a little bit of movement last night - She's the One swung back to opener position, but otherwise mostly business as usual. Another comfortably sub-three-hour performance - wonder if he's swinging back down to the 165-minute mark? (You'd still get your money's worth, of course.)

Seems he's properly dropped back to performing the George Theiss memorial show, which is fair as our friends in the great white north haven't had that yet, unless they travelled.

Reckon I now want a night 1 ticket for Milan. The two shows and a couple of days exploring Como/Lugano and maybe try and do the Bermina Express on the way home would go some way to making up for missing out on Glastonbury.

Sounds like an excellent plan. Already have gigs either side of Milan #2, so it is a flying visit for me, sadly.
