It's not a quagmire that I particularly want to get into, but Jesse is also the only example of a 'cancelled' person that sought out ways of improving himself as a person following both 'the incident', and the publicity of it.
Their accused controversy came out nearly 20 years on from the event, with no accusations of any kind in those intervening years. Jesse then owned up to things, took the best part of a decade out of the limelight, and has clearly acknowledged that he was a very flawed man who has since become much more improved.
Allowing someone the chance to rehabilitate themselves is not a bad thing.
I don't deny that he was wrong to behave in the way that he did, but Brand New getting caught in the crossfire of cancellation when playing in a scene/genre that is absolutely rampant with repeatable, more shocking offenders does sour my taste a little.
