Primavera Sound Porto 2025

Starting a new topic since i'm considering going to the festival this year.

After the pretty strong line up from Primavera Barcelona this week i'm expecting a decent amount of names coming to the Porto edition aswell.

Maybe a bit concerned after some reports for some organizational problems (cancelations etc.) from last year.

Looking for opinions from last year attendees. Any major changes that should concern us because of those failures from last year?

Also some rumours from the portuguese users here?

I've attended this year. In general, I really liked the vibe of the fest. I haven't been to the Barcelona one so can't compare.

The main f**kup was that the organizers put Justice on a smaller stage which couldn't bear the weight of their equipment. Hopefully they've learned from this mistake. This cancellation also hurt because the lineup was noticeably thinner than Barcelona. There weren't any acts on during the night for example.

Other than that I didn't really have problems with the organization. Maybe the long queues for uber after the end of the shows, but that happens at almost every other major festival too.

I think someone in the other thread said that Deftones will be at Porto.

What we know:

- Salem will not attend Porto (says in the press release for Barcelona that it will be their only concert in 2025)

- Daniel has been spot on on every piece of information so probably we will have Deftones, Turnstile, Parcels, Anohni and Fontaines DC.

I went last year for the first time, and even after the cancelation it was a pretty good line-up. That said, I am portuguese and really enjoy some of the portuguese acts (Maquina, Ana Lua Caiano, Best Youth) that were added to the small list of names coming from Barcelona.

As Sandorbeni said, the only cancelation that should worry is the Justice one, cause comes from a mistake from the organization. But, yes... many artists canceled cause were feeling sick after Primavera Barcelona and that can happen again.

Be prepared for some rain also. It is almost a tradition in Primavera Porto.

I think it is a really great experience for less price and less stress than Barcelona.

Really hope they bring Charli, LCD and FKA. Last year they really bet on keeping the most of the headliners from Barcelona. But the late announce of Cee made me think it will be something like: Two Powerpuff Girls, Deftones and Central Cee.

I'm gonna give Porto some consideration when the line up comes out. I've about 20 names at BCN that I'd like to see but it would prove costly to travel, stay etc. I'm thinking Porto might be an alternative if the line up included most of...

Lcd, Fontaines, TV on the radio, beach house, Idles, Jamie xx, caribou, floating points, Twigs, and MJ Lenderman.

The top line headliners at BCN are good gets for the festival but they're not in my interest set really, so I'd be fine if they weren't at Porto too once a lot of the above were.

I think LCD won't play Porto and we will have Charli xcx, Chappell Roan and maybe Sabrina. I don't know if they booked the three because I feel Primavera Barcelona wants to make a marketing strategy with these so called Powerpuff Girls. Without the exclusivity of having the three in the line-up that would not work the same way. Maybe two of them and FKA twigs as the main headliners.

I believe they will announce 3 bigger acts for each day: Charli xcx, Chappell Roan, Sabrina/FKA twigs, Deftones, Turnstile, Fontaines D.C., Anohni and the Johnsons, Denzel Curry and TV on the Radio.

I think LCD will show up in NOS Alive unfortunally

If they did NOS Alive, I think it would be a co-headlining slot. Maybe they'll play Super Bock Super Rock, but we don't know what are the plans for the festival. We just know that it will happen.

I don't think LCD Soundsystem will be at NOS Alive. Maybe Paredes de Coura? The promoter told the press they had a big name signed for this year.

We shall see. If Porto has Chappel, Sabrina and Charli, is a big win for the promoter, but for me is lacking the depth Primavera usually have.

I'd say we're only getting one of Charli, Chappel and Sabrina. Or at least I hope so - felt last year they spent all the money on the headliners and it felt a little bit more like a big gig than the usual feel. If there's only one, we'll have a stronger undercard which what I go to Porto for.

Also I really liked there being more Portuguese acts last year, made some good discoveries and loved them all looking like they'd won the world cup at their end of their sets, was very wholesome

what about LCD, Magdalena bay, chat pile, destroyer and charli xcx? 😉

Porto don't usually bring the heavy bands that go to Barcelona, so i would be extremely surprised if Chat Pile was on the card

from what i ve heard ( and what i can tell)........... Don't expect LCD in Porto ...... neither Coura

A few days ago when Chat Pile announced their EU tour they were replying to comments asking for Portugal and/or Spain (and only those) with "Patience", so they probably are on the lineup

However they can be on Portugal the days before Primavera, as some bands in the past (Like  Soul Glio in 2023 and Sophia Chablau last year)

edit: we are on that time of the year, that we say the festivals from this year were last year . Sophia Cablau was this year xD)

So, if I had to choose 3 out of the 6 headliners from Barcelona, knowing that LCD are out, I would pick Charli xcx, Chappell Roan and FKA twigs. I think 3 we will get, maybe 4...

Yeap I would go with this also. Adding Deftones.

Chappell and Sabrina for me are equal levels of hype (almost 0), but I think that Chappel is less known in Portugal compared to Sabrina that plays on the mainstream radio every hour.

But Chappell's effect on Internet is huge... I don't know. I have doubts about the two regarding sales on Europe.

I was not considering Deftones, just the six big names from Primavera Barcelona. Like I said before, I can see Primavera Porto using a strategy with 3 big names for each day: pop (Chappell, Charli and maybe Sabrina), rock (Deftones, Fontaines D.C. and Turnstile) and "in between" acts (Beach House, Denzel Curry and maybe FKA twigs).
