Headliner crowd sizes over the years

Yeah Jannelle is great - People missed out by not seeing her - would have watched if I was not working.

I’d planned on seeing her as I was just finishing my shift at Leftfield. The human river coming from the Pyramid field made me choose to go to Strumerville for Olivia Dean instead of fighting my way against the flow

Does anyone have any solid info on what % of punters were still around for the Sunday? I think I read somewhere that it was estimated around a third of capacity had left by Sunday headliner time. I was at The National and that also seemed super sparse.

Solid evidence doesn't exist but I was working on PGC and from about 4pm onwards there were thousands of people exiting through that gate.  They were being counted, as they always are, but those counts would include people popping back to their vans for dinner, clothes etc.  Anecdotally, my team were offering the non-EPO people passout tickets and the overwhelming majority of people didn't want them and were saying they were not coming back in.

She's bigger now and Skip seems to think she did.

Her 2019 crowd at WH was decent enough.  It was not anything like the packed crowds you've seen there for Bicep, Justice etc.

You could easily get to the cider bar and walk down the left - right to the front.

It was absolutely disgraceful behaviour from the attendees. Ignoring a fantastic performer for whatever nonsense was on The Other Stage. Shameful it was.

Yep, the Glastonbury crowd seem to lap up kitsch crap like Avril Lavigne and Shania Twaine more than ever these days. It's sad to see when there are renowned artists playing to sparse crowds at the same time.

People having a bit of fun instead of stroking their chin?  Disgraceful.

Not a headliner, but Janelle Monae had the smallest crowd I think I’ve ever seen on the Pyramid. Walked past on my way from Woodsies to WH and it was eerie! The whole of Sunday was a bit dead to be fair.

Everyone at Avril!

Janelle is a long way from “chin stroking” music and the very definition of fun, esp live

Tried her in 2019... didn't like it

I don't see many people stroking their chin to Janelle Monae.

Was more in response to your 'disgust' at the crowd enjoying Shania, Avril etc.

I watched Janelle this year, and it was a tiny crowd. I was sat halfway up and it was eerie, the legions of seagulls diving about was weird as welll.

I know they did a quality set, but I thought the Pyramid crowd for the Cure in 2019 was pretty small too. Not SZA levels of course, but I waltzed in and out to the loos a few times.

I think the whole of Sunday this year felt a bit after the lord mayor's show...it was grey, a weak headliner etc. Perhaps everyone was knackered, I know I was. The National were amazing though!

Janelle's latest album bombed, she just isn't as big an artist anymore as she was back in 2018/2019. Pyramid attendance was indeed pathetic, but I also wasn't feeling that set compared the times I saw her in the past. Same shtick all over again, she needs to switch it up.

You can't blame the crowd (chin strokers or otherwise) for quite possibly the worst programming errors of all time by the organisers. Absolute shocker of a decision to overlap them both at the same time...for more than one reason. If you want to direct your frustration at anyone, this one lands firmly at the feet of the festival. Massively out of touch.

Which is a huge shame because her performance was amazing!!

Just had a random memory from 2010 when thinking about this thread. Smallest crowd I‘ve ever seen on one of the main stages - Dirty Projectors on The Park. I wanted to catch their first few songs before legging it over for the start of Stevie on the Pyramid. Think I was one of 15 people there, was tragic haha!
