Got my loyalty ticket when they came out...delighted with this for a 1st announcement! Great to see Fontaines back, can't believe it's Dogrel since they last played given they have been at Glasto basically every year since! For anyone that hasn't been and is considering it, it's a brilliant festival. Site is pretty huge given the attendance, so plenty of things to do on top of the music. We now just automatically book every year when tickets come out as it's always great (ok, traffic in year 2 was a nightmare, but that's sorted out now and they also disturbed a wasp nest during the build that year so it was a bit crazy, but nothing like that ever since!...even then it was still a great weekend...actually, that's the last time Fontaines played!).

Great if you're not between 12 and 20!

They really aren't that fussy at the gates to be honest! Mates have brought their teenagers with them every year. So long as you are accompanied by an adult, they don't tend to kick up a fuss on entry. They had the same rule when they ran electric picnic.

any idea when next bands are coming mate? What's the vibe at the festival like too? Is it quite lively with stuff going on late into the night yeah?

They said "in the New Year" a while back, but nearly at the end of January now and nothing yet! I'd expect another tranche in the next few weeks as other Irish fests are releasing more names over the last week or so (some of those announced elsewhere would have gone down well at ATN). FJM was heavily rumoured to be the final headliner, but he has since booked a few of his own gigs around the country later in August, so I guess that rules him out. Expect a good lot of Irish acts to be added (even if there are already lots on the lineup), nobody is sure whether there is room for 1 more headliner (possibly is), but in previous years the second announcement has always had some great additions and they have even squeezed in some last minute surprises just as the festival is kicking off. The vibe is like the early days of Electric Picnic (it's run by the same people that started EP)...so pretty chilled, with a wide variety of stuff going on...crowd in general a bit older than EP nowadays and a lot more festival vets...it's not the festival of choice for a first one for most people. The site is pretty big for the capacity (30,000 this year), so always plenty of space...if it gets muddy, there's a few bottlenecks as it's hilly in places and that slows everyone down at those points, when dry, loads of room to roam. Lots going on late at night (Saturday night headliner likely to be Bicep (ok, the AV show) will probably only start around midnight til about 1.30am...many Irish festivals have a double "headliner" on Saturday with the dancier act on last and late). Arcadia runs later, and there's lots of other venues dotted around that run late as well. Has a free flow drink system like Glasto (ie, no security between camping and Arena).

great 馃檪 Sounds awesome!

I'm hoping for Just Mustard, Sprints, Lankum and New Dad... When you say some bands are ruled out due to playing other festivals, does Ireland have some sort of exclusivity rule in place like some other countries, or do you just mean in terms of their touring schedules?

So, all of the above have played in the last few years! Just Mustard, New Dad and Sprints all played last year (though that doesn't necessarily rule them out as plenty of Irish acts turn up frequently...King Kong Company seem to play every year!). Pillow Queens maybe as they didn't play last year but did have a new album...Murder Capital played last year as well, but turn up regularly. David Kitt is ATN's version of Billy Bragg at Glasto. Pretty much guaranteed as both himself and as New Jackson. You never know with Lankum, they played 2023, and 脴XN played last year...they've nothing booked past May at this stage. In terms of exclusivity, there's generally not a huge cross over between the bigger Irish festivals (this one is run by POD/Aiken whereas EP is an MCD/Live Nation gig, so if announced for EP, unlikely to be on the bill for ATN in the same year). Forest Fest is the week before and there's a bunch there that would would fit the demographic at ATN (Therapy? and Teenage Fanclub announced this week for that one which would have been class). Usually no cross over there either (Forest Fest is leaning into the nostalgia a lot more than ATN, though to be fair Franz Ferdinand do have a new album out!).
