new AEG festival at Milton Keynes bowl on June 22nd. spotted the sign up link on Facebook  in the same vein as Cruel World fest. looks like it has 3 stages, no info on line up as yet though

Sounds interesting, but too bad it clashes with the Isle of Wight festival, which also features a lot of heritage post-punk/new wave acts. Maybe it would have been better to schedule it the following weekend, as an alternative for people who couldn't get Glastonbury tickets.

Wouldn't be surprised if it shared a few there, and maybe a couple from the Download bill to boot.

 

New Order and Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds topping Cruel World the month before.

 

For a moment, I got indefeasibly excited that this was something to do with Cold Chisel, who I would love to come over to Blighty. The problem is that I'm running out of free dates for next summer's music season...

Seems to be quite the mix of things - last year had Interpol and Placebo on a bill with as their concessions to music released after 2000.

Shame it’s not a two day fest as it makes it easier to justify hotels/travel etc.

Now, if it comes with a New Order or Bad Seeds-level type headliner and a stacked undercard, that will likely seem to be very good value for money.

Getting Nick Cave for this and a slot a week later in Pilton would be perfect

I assume the fact Madness have their own gig in Bedford near MK rules them out from taking part in a perfect replication of that line up in Milton Keynes if nothing else.

Maybe psychedelic furs as "forever now" is the title of one of their albums.

They actually said after their UK shows last year that their 50th anniversary tour was misinterpreted as a farewell tour and to not refer to it as such!

I can see Frank Carter + Sex Pistols doing this, they're playing glasgow the day before and are doing other outdoor gigs

Especially if the starting point for tickets is £85! I’m hoping/expecting something pretty strong for that size and money.

A lot depends on how broad the spectrum of what they're booking is.

 

I guessed from the blurb that is their PR release that it would be more 70s/80s oriented but it would be a good get if that's who they've landed.

I don't know them all, but doesn't appear to be any 90s acts on the US lineup. Could be the same headlines I guess. Other possibilities of sufficient size - The Cure, Depeche Mode? Or is that a tad hopeful?

I saw them headline Glastonbury and I saw them play a show in Bristol a few years ago and they were great.

The Cure could be possible but I feel like they'd be top end option. Depeche Mode are meant to be taking next year off.

Would really love if they could get The The somewhere on the bill. I missed out earlier this year due to a knee injury. Still on my bucket list!
